Prologue

It was a dark night, echoes of animals and sprites ringing through a small clearing, the tall towering trees giving a sinister hiss of satisfaction. The moon suffocated in the grip of the night clouds, now and then spilling its light onto the ground below like milk spilt on a dark, mahogany table. A cool wind swept the trees, enough to cause a fresh hiss of leaves, spiralling down from the branches and onto the ground below.

Another, more unnatural sound was coming from a nearby bush as a young, pale man stood up, brushing his sleeves. His charcoal eyes scanned the surroundings, taking in every bit of detail.

There.

The figure found it at last. Just a few feet away from him was a clearing.

The figure approached it...

Slowly...

Slowly...

Slowly...

CRACK!

A flurry of wings and what seemed to be a tree was shrieking, a living chaos, their cries piercing the crisp cold air, the disturbed bats enveloping the moon once again.

He gave a sigh.

The figure swung his backpack in a fluid motion, he tiptoed towards the clearing, praying the diversion was enough, but blissfully unaware of the danger.

Snarls ruptured the silence. Two.

He stopped.

The bushes in front of him morphed into two wolves, eyes glowing blood-red.

They padded forward, before stopping, ready to pounce, grinning like a murderer, eyes filled with cold fire, a frosty, stong, resentment that for a second, he felt it too.

His eyes studied their teeth. Gleaming from what little light the eyes emitted.

He opened his mouth to scream...

...a howl, a thump...

...But it never came.

Hi,

I'm really sorry that I unpublished my other book. I lost motivation to write it, and school was really pressuring me. I'll write it again and proofread it.

I had a bit of time so I wrote it down. But be warned; I may not publish for a long time.

Also, apologies if this is quite short.
