'Dada.. Dada!' He heard as he was slowly waking up. He looked around the old shed he and the little girl had been living in for the past seven months. As a beam of sunlight reflected off the shards of glass that lied on the floor at the far end of the space into his eyes, he got up. He sweeps his long black locks of hair out of his face and looks further. 'Oh, no,' he muttered. The one year old kid stood holding on to the wooden fence that was supposed to pose as her bed, staring at him with her big, pitch black eyes. He sighed and opened the door of the shed to meet a cold, fresh morning breeze. He flinched. A few miles away he noticed a figure slowly moving in his direction.

The figure was tall, wearing a, somewhat, pointy hat and a long robe. He knew what was coming. As quickly as he could he grabbed the old, worn-out trunk he had been carrying for years and stuffed it whatever goods he could find inside. He glanced at the little girl, not being sure what to do. The smile on her flawless little face widened and let out a very high-pitched noise.
'I do not have time for this, Ellie,' he worriedly said. He looked down at her and carefully stroked her little head. 'I'm really sorry, I will come back for you.'

As soon as he heard the noises of the approaching figure at the front of the shed, he snatched the trunk and left the shed through the same way he came in, a hole in the wall made by animals on their search for food. After some pushing and pulling, he finally stood upright with his worn-out patent leather shoes in the damp green grass. He started walking and walking, taking up his pace by every single step he made.

Then he stopped. Hesitated. Did he make the right choice? He turned around. Should he go back? Get her? No. It was too late. She'd probably been discovered. He turned back around and ran.
