Moonlight glistened on the shallow stream, turning it silver, and the top of the gorge loomed calmly overhead. All was silent until suddenly out from the darkness a lithe deer padded out on to the clearing, it’s amber eyes gleaming. Several moments passed before a broad-shouldered, violet-scaled dragon stumbled out of the shadows on the opposite side of the stream, a curious look on its face. They stared at each other in silence before the dragon finally asked “So, why’d you bring me here, Fauna?”. “I have received a message from Zadicus.” The deer replied bluntly. “So..?” The dragon persisted.

Fauna adjusted his round glasses and hesitated before continuing “After dark and light come together blood of the faultless will spill.”

“...What is that supposed to mean?” The dragon challenged.

“You will learn over time, Echo.” The deer responded “Now, dawn is approaching. I must go. But before you return to the waking world, remember - You must never tell anybody about this.” ‘But what about-” Echo began. “No exceptions. Understand?” The deer cut off “I understand…” She echoed. Fauna sat there for a moment, staring at her trustingly, before nodding and walking off. After walking away a few pawsteps he paused, and stared down at the rocky floor. A heartbeat or two passed before his sleek beige pelt began to fade away, blending in with the darkness. After the deer had faded away the shimmering half moon began to sink below the edge of the deep ravine. Echo sat down and stared up at the morning sky, her violet scales shimmered under the dim light. After dark and light come together blood will spill.
