(note: C1 means this is Character entry #1)
Appearance: Orion is a teenage girl with a thick, German accent; as she was born in Germany(With German being her first language, yet she learned English throughout her past school years.), but has recently moved to the United States because of her town forcing to kick her family out due to religious beliefs (they used to live in a strict, communist part of the country); she was born into a family of magicians, satanists, and those who practice witchcraft and pagans/wiccans/polytheists. Orion is about 5'4", and is about average-to-light weighted. She sports long, straightened, black hair that goes down to her mid-back, and short bangs that cover halfway down her forehead. She wears round glasses on her gray-black eyes and shaved-off eyebrows. The pale girl is often seen wearing a frilly gray or black dress with short-medium sleeves, along with white stockings and black shoes; she does not wear anything too revealing due to being uncomfortable. And when it's cold, she wears her favorite black hoodie with a red hourglass design printed on the front of it. Orion is also fond of wearing headbands; is usually seen wearing a red headband with small horns on it.
Alternate Appearance: TBA
Character/Background: She currently goes to a high school set in north-western Pennsylvania (nearby Ohio, where the main setting takes off), and befriends a gaming YouTuber and his childhood friend who is a cheerleader and works two jobs. She's often seen having a book either by her or being read by her. She loves to read about mythical creatures, monsters, and horror-genre themes; especially things that may gross even herself out. When at home, she even sometimes reads to the family's two black cats. Despite Orion being a bookworm and being fascinated by the most gruesome facts, she tries her best to be polite and patient as possible (It is the Kurzenacht's tradition to show kindness and manners to everyone they know and then some.). She is also a hardworking individual with her schoolwork and around the house, although the parents aren't strict but appreciate her doing beyond her chores; some would rumor that she's a bit of a neat freak. Although she has some amazing qualities, Orion is usually the only one around aside from her parents; she had a hard time making friends because she and the Kurzenachts were so different compared to them in communist Germany. She's also not very knowledgeable of technology or the latest electronics since she and her family had little access back in the European country (They do have heat, water, electricity, kitchen supplies, and a TV.), so many thought she was poor. She also has trouble understanding other kids around her age, especially with emotions (This also ties with showing strong emotions herself.); like her parents have said to her, "Always ask questions if you're unsure about something."
Fun Facts?:
- The hourglass on her shirt represents a part of the constellation, Orion, which is a coincidence.
- Kurzenacht translates to short night in English. I wanted an excuse to add the word Kurtz in someone's last name, so it's pretty fitting here ha.
- Originally, she was thought to be a chuunibyou. I didn't want to take that route since it's over done in anime, and they focus more on the cute-sy aspect sorta, hence making everyone in her family including herself gothic.
- I want her voice to completely throw off people, something like what I have observed from watching clips of the Oblongs on YouTube; specifically the character Creepy Susie. I also found a great resource on cartoon goth girls: http://popgothica.blogspot.com/ , for me at least; it gives me an idea on what to do with Orion.
- There's not many sources of media with a gothic character as the main protagonist to my knowledge, yet I believe she is the perfect fit for the role in the series she belongs in, along with her new friends.
- As much as she loves anything out of the ordinary, Orion is pretty much the average, honor-roll teenager. She is taught that it's okay to be different.
- The two black cats are not named at the moment, and neither are her parents' names; I'm leaning for something either German names or other constellations.
- Her birthday is May 20th, which is the median of May 17th and May 23rd; the constellation Orion sits between Taurus and Gemini horoscopes.
- Another coincidence, there is a roller coaster in Ohio named Orion (The new B&M giga in Kings Island); yet it is not related to the character. She was made before 2020.
