There aren't many ninja here, per se, but a select few are trained to protect the village and strengthen alliances with the larger nations. Though your training closely mirrors the ninja arts—focused on jujutsu, strategy, and combat—your village calls you and your peers warriors, honoring a tradition that emphasizes honor, skill, and defense over conquest.
You were specifically chosen to train in Konoha, the Village Hidden in the Leaves, at the tail end of the Third Ninja War. Since then, every year, you've returned to train, support, and provide intel to the Leaf shinobi.
