Trigger Warning: Homophobia is Present in This Chapter

"Good morning mom!" Adrian chirped, taking a seat at the kitchen table. A plate of bacon and eggs smiled at him, and he couldn't help but smile back. It was his first day of senior year and for whatever reason, he was really excited. It was a brand new year and it was a great opportunity to meet some different people.

"Good morning Adrian, I hope you like eggs and bacon!" Replied the tall brunette who stood at the stove preparing her own food with a blissful smile on her face. She was always abnormally cheerful, especially considering the fact that Adrian's dad had left just before he was born. It was like she was wearing a mask of joy to hide the eternal sadness she had manifesting deep in her soul that she didn't want to burden Adrian with. Adrian's dad leaving was especially hard on her because it was a teen pregnancy and she had to do it alone, for her parents couldn't bear the sight of her. She didn't like to talk about it, though. Adrian sighed and looked at the clock hanging up on the wall. It was 6:42, and in order to reach the school by 7:00 he had to leave in the next couple of minutes. He wolfed down his plate and hugged his mother, wishing her a good day as he hopped out the door.

As Adrian made his way toward the school, hundreds of kids crowded around the sand-colored building. It wasn't a very fancy school, but he liked it that way. It was a four-story building, each floor in the shape of an "E." It was easy to get lost if you didn't know where exactly you were going. The doors hadn't opened yet, so there was a big huddle of students waiting in the courtyard, chatting away. He stood to the side, when he heard a voice yelling. He turned around the corner of the building when he saw a petit, short boy getting beat up by another muscular, beast-like student.

"Get off me you bastard!" cried the smaller boy.

"Why don't you go cry to your mommy, queer!" Mocked the bully. "Oh wait, you don't have one!" He jeered as he and two other boys that were there with him erupted in laughter.

"Hey! What the fuck are you doing!?" Adrian hollered, rage bursting at the seams. "Get the hell off of him!"

"Well, well, well. What do we have here? Another little fairy?" the burly teen growled.

"Yeah you wish, one more word out of you and I'll turn into something much worse than a 'fairy'."

"Oh wow, how intimidating. The little fairy is feisty," he chuckled, flipping his long black hair to the side.

"Got anything else to say, or is fairy the only word of the English language that you know? You...you...you little bitch," Adrian stuttered. The bully let out one big punch, knocking Adrian to the ground.

"Clark Miller. Remember that name...Fag," he stated, slowly walking away with a grin on his face. Adrian stood back up, looking for the boy. He was nowhere to be seen. All Adrian found was a small pride pin with the gay flag on it, laying on the ground where the boy had just stood.
