Aura was the Titan goddess of the breeze and fresh, cool air of the early morning.

She was the daughter of Lelantos, the titan of air and she is seen as the counterpart of Artemis because she was also a virgin huntress. She had two twin sons, one of which she ate and the other was taken to Olympus. His name was Iakkhus.

                          Myth

Aura was very proud of her virginity.

So proud, in fact, that she actually compared her body to that of the Olympian goddess of the Moon and the hunt, Artemis.

Aura said that Artemis was too womanly to be a true virgin. Artemis sought out Nemesis, the goddess of balance and retribution, to create balance between the two.

As her punishment, Aura was raped by the wine god, Dionysos.

This rape drove Aura to madness and she became a very violent and cruel killer of men.

When Aura gave birth to her twin sons from Dionysus, she swallowed one whole and the other was taken away by Demeter .

Zeus then turned Aura into a stream.
