Tristan Roberts:
Five minutes
I was dead for five minutes.
My heart stopped beating unexpectedly. With no prior warning or symptoms to warn me of what was to come.
I was told I suddenly collapsed onto the floor. My classmates described me to be lifeless, that I was paled, silent and completely still, identical to a corpse.
My friends said they were calling out my name out of all the commotion that were students yelling within the classroom, screaming for the teachers to come help me, some filming the chaos on their phones while I laid on the floor seconds to my demise.
When the faculty did come, they struggled to clam down they're pupils as they waited for the medical help to arrive. One of the educator's apparently attempted to perform CPR, trying to revive my near soul departed body. But failed as my eyes wouldn't open to see the light.
I couldn't remember doing such a thing, collapsing. I could simply recollect the feeling of being light-headed and a sharp pang to my chest, the last thing I saw was the crumbly celling until then my eyes closed leaving me in darkness.
But with all the mayhem I lived, when the paramedics intervened. Coming through and driving me to the hospital.
When they were finally able to bring me to consciousness they told me it was a miracle, that it was miraculous that I was even breathing.
Now I lay on a hospital bed. Blanketed in white sheets.
Just like in the movies and Television shows, it was a painted white room. A bed to which I'm resting on accompanied with a modern structured bedside table, upholding all my belongings; my dead phone, earphones and my satchel with all my books. The sufficient sized room had a large sealed glass window allowing through the light and heat of the burning sun.
The room was filled with expensive machinery with repetitive beeping sounds. Some connected to me:
An IV drip pierced into the back of my hand, injected in my largest vein to my limb, a heart monitor reciprocating and amplifying the sound of every beat my blood pumping organ made. And others which I couldn't figure out uses as they were unfamiliar to my knowledge.
