We drove fast. I didn't drive obviously, I'm only 16 and frankly, I'm too scared to try. An annual family vacation is over! I would be lying if I said I wasn't happy to get away from home, but home has so many more luxuries if you think of it, your own bedroom and television it sounds like heaven on earth. recently I don't feel like going out when I could rather stay home and just lounge around all day, I only would go out if it involves shopping but even then I get sick of wandering aimlessly at the same shops and the same shopping centre. 4 am we had to get up, 4 am! I still haven't packed my bag back up I don't know what to pack, I usually trust that my mom would do it for me but since the incident, I'm on my own. she passed away, last year, car accident. I live with my dad and brother; it's been a year and we've still haven't talked about mother's death. I think dad tried to forget about my mother and move on with his life, but I know he hasn't forgotten. We're back home now, Thank goodness. We move around a lot; we don't have a lot of money. Dads in a band, the kookie-bits, haven't heard of it? Trust me I assure you nobody knows about them; they rarely book gigs. When dad moves me and Jason, my brother have to move too. we live in a small house, cracks in the walls, barely any cell phone service. I never see dad; I prefer it that way. sometimes I wish he could stay away forever, and it could just be me and my little brother. I could raise Jason on my own, I've been doing it for practically a whole year already. Moving around a lot means moving schools, means same crappy high school new kid experience every time. Same ego-maniac jocks and preppy cheerleaders and then me. Thrift shop wearing, worn in old sneakers that are way too big for my feet, short and rigidly cut hair. I cut my hair when I'm stressed which is why it's so uneven. that's how I cope with anger and stress when I just want to scream and just big CHOP it off. boom, snap done, another piece of hair gone. like another piece of the anger bottled up in me gone, it has fallen off my body like a weight lifted of my shoulder. I don't know why I get the urge to cut my hair but it's just something I do, so every day at school pretty much my hair is just more rigid and shorter. I hate school, who even needs an education I'll probably just end up working at the local shop selling groceries to all the losers in this dump. I defiantly don't have many friends in this town, I've never had a best friend, never really let someone be too close to me, I always keep my walls up, therefore, i can't get hurt. Although before mum died, I was really close to this girl called Stacey, she moved to this town the same time as me, so we were both the "fresh meat" at school and stuck together. We did everything together, but ever since mum died, I've just haven't let anyone be close to me again and push them away to avoid the hurt, I barely speak with Stacey now. Stacey and I are very different now, we used to be so similar but now she turned into this preppy, neat hair, perfect makeup type of girl who everyone loves and adores and then there is just me. I don't even think anyone at school knows about me, I just creep into the corner, don't talk to anyone, get my attendance in and leave. I rarely go to school or stay at school the whole day; my dad doesn't care and honestly, I don't agree with this whole education thing anyway.
I skate to and from school, by myself, listening to music. I usually block out my problems with music, usually the same songs on repeat. Mostly Lana, her music just I can't explain the emotions stirred up in me. I skate past the rich area, massive mansions, dreaming of what if. Then I get to my area, small broken run-down shacks, stray dogs, the smell of alcohol and drugs, and creeps walking the streets. I try to restrain from eye-contact and go home as fast as I can. When I don't go home I go to the lake and sit on the bridge watching the busy traffic zoom by and the smell of pollution flood up my nose. Today I'm going to the lake, it's so peaceful once you learn to block out the traffic and pollution it's actually quite nice and barley anyone knows where it is. Pass the dump and rejects of the town. the rejects being me.
I skate fast on the roads, no time to waste in this world you got to keep moving. The roads are empty since most people around here can't avoid cars or they are very old second-hand cars which barely work. broken street signs covered in graffiti alarms going on in stores due to people stealing and robbing. I look over to Heralds Homewares and see a group of teenage boys around my age 16 run out with Foods and Clothes, there is about 7 of them wearing all black, laughing and going on their bikes. "Shoot", I yell. My wheel got stuck in gum. One guy looked over; he didn't have anything with him, yet he was just with them. I can read people very well I could tell he didn't want to be there, but he didn't want to be alone or left out.
Lmk if I should release the next chapter!
