My Own Fame (Sequel to 'The Trap')

Lily's POV Chapter 8

This better not be a prank!

As soon as Hol opened the door, we heard a boy's voice proclaim that he won something. I honestly thought that it was kids playing in the game room. I didn't put the two things together until I saw Holly running after Ben as he screamed so loud. 

Just then Mom came into the foyer, very concerned. 

"What's going on in here?"

I first showed her the text that Ben had sent from her phone before Syd sternly called Ben over who was still stuck under Holly's arm. Syd then told Mom how scared we all were as Mom went into what Hol calls 'full mom mode' on Ben. Before anyone could say anything else, Dad came to join us. He too was wondering what all the noise was about. So I showed him the text as Mom filled Dad in. I could see the fear in my brother's eyes, but if he didn't pull this dangerous stunt off, none of this would've happened. Then Mom and Dad took turns yelling at Ben, made him apologize to all of us and Dad took him to his room.

Then Mom changed the subject by asking us about our night. Holly took charge and told her how we tricked her to going to speed dating. Mom was so excited to hear that Holly had met someone. I knew Mom wanted to play twenty questions about the subject, but Holly wanted none of that. 

After my sister left the room, Mom thanked us for trying to help Hol out. It was my pleasure and I told her so. Mom suddenly left us standing in the foyer and begins to walk towards the living room. Syd and I looked at each other with confusing looks. We ended up following her into the room and sat on the couch opposite of her.

Mom opened her mouth to speak when Dad walked in.    

"He will never do that again. I'm so sorry that he ruined your night, girls."

Dad sat right next to Mom.

"Well the event was nearly over anyway, Si." Syd said. It always catches me off guard to hear her call him that.

Dad was confused so Mom filled him in. 

He smirked. "So did you have to drag Holly in?"

"Yep, your daughter so very strong-willed," Syd replied as I just nodded.

Mom sighed. "Yeah that's a trait she got from her father."

"So now we're blaming everything on me?" Dad asked offended.

Mom shook her head. "No, you drama king. I was referring to the 'R' word, but you're stubborn too."

The 'R' word was Rob, but that's a bad word in this house. 

Dad nodded. "So where is Holly?"

"She went back to the apartment, I believe," Syd replied.

"But Dad, she met a guy tonight!" I said with a smile.

"A real one?" Dad asked with a smirk.

Mom smacked Dad.

"What?"

Mom pointed at him. "You know what!"

Syd nodded. "Yes he's real and handsome too."

"So handsome like me?"

"No babe, you're sexy."

I mouthed sorry to Syd as she shook her head at me. I'm glad that my parents are still in love, but that was a gross comment!

"Okay on that note, good night second parents and sister Lily!" Sydney said.

Mom and Dad got up to say goodbye as I walked her out. 

"Thanks for helping me tonight and sorry it didn't go as planned," I said.

"It's always an adventure coming over here. Honestly, there's never a dull moment. I enjoyed helping you and hopefully it'll work out between the new guy and Hol. She needs love in her life," she replied.
