Lily's POV Chapter 8

Start from the beginning

Syd came shortly after this conversation. We had to sneak off of the property because we knew that if Mom and or Dad just saw Syd, we wouldn't be going out. I wonder if she's told them about her dream to move her family out here? I know my parents see Sydney like a daughter, but they gotta learn to share her with us too. Wait is that why they surprised us at the bar some time back? Were they only there to see Syd?

Anyway, Holly and I followed Sydney out of the property and into her waiting car. I just fell into the passenger's seat as Holly just let me have it. How did that happen? As we drove to the bar, my stomach seemed to get tighter and tighter as the minutes dragged by. Soon enough my sister would know that I lied to her. Thankfully Sydney knew that I had to trick my sister out of her room tonight and also knew how to calm her down too. I'm so glad that she's had a lot of practice dealing with my moody sister.

When we arrived in the parking garage, Holly wouldn't stop asking questions. I knew if we told her why we were here instead of my lie of the bookstore, she would refuse to get out of the car. So I kept my mouth shut and let Sydney take control of the situation. Holly actually followed us inside without another word. I was shocked. When we arrived at the back room, I stood off to the side to watch Holly's reaction. As soon as she saw the huge banner with the event written on it, Holly did a one-eighty and turned to leave as Sydney got in her way. Thankfully Sydney is on the short list of people that my sister actually listens to.

Suddenly Holly was walking over to me. Hopefully I can talk her into staying here tonight.

"Why did you bring me here?"

"Well it's been a while since you've been on a date and you could really use some excitement in your life."

"Our family is exciting enough for me."

"It'll be fun!"

"Fun isn't the word that I would use to describe this. I would say that it's awkward, embarrassing and a waste of time."

"Why?"

"Well these dates are too short to know anything about these guys and the questions are so shallow."

I then suggested to do the event with her, but she shot me down. She wanted me to faithful to Axel. I really didn't think it all the way through before opening my mouth.

So while Holly got all set up, Syd and I ordered some drinks and grabbed a table to watch the whole thing. Holly found a spot in the middle as she looked up at us. We smiled and waved at her as the bell went off. I never got used to hearing the bell and my sister had a good laugh about it every single time the host rang it. I know she wasn't laughing at me, so I started to laugh at myself too. Hol believes that Mom and I are twins and even though she sometimes means that as a insult, I never take it that way. I love being compared to my Mom!

"Oh look Lily, Holly's laughing with a cute boy!"

I looked up to see a wonderful sight. There was my big sister having a good time with a man! They looked so cute together! I wonder if he has a brother! Just kidding, please don't tell Ax and or Syd!

Just then my phone went off. Why don't I ever remember to turn off my ringer?! I was so embarrassed! It was from Mom and it was an urgent message to get home right away. Mom never texts like this, so this was bad. I looked up to meet my sister's gaze. By the look she gave me, she had received the same message that I just did.

"What's going on?" Syd asked me.

I then showed Syd the message as her eyes doubled in size. Within a minute, Holly had left the cute boy and had rushed over to us. Then Syd paid the bill and we ran out of the bar and straight for Syd's van. All the way home, I was trying to figure out what was going on. Who was hurt? Was there an accident? Why didn't we get a police escort home? Is Uncle Mason okay? My mind went in circles until we pulled into the driveway. We were too worked up to park in the garage. If something had happened, then where are all of the cars? Was this a surprise party? And if so, for who?
