"Why are we even whispering?-" I glance to see a peek inside and saw a man in a uniform but I couldn't clearly see who it was. "-who's in there?"

"Then go to Sienna's, yes, go to Sienna's house." she says convincingly and glances at the house a few blocks from ours.

When I stared back to the house, that's when I finally acknowledge the surroundings and saw a police car, parked in front of our drive way. How stupid of me to not notice this.

I shook my head and just when I'm about to start asking again, a man came up at the back of my mom opening the door that my mom held, even wider.

"You must be June. Your mother told me you were out at a friend's and would be back not until later but as I can see, I'm glad you're back early." The man stepped up and held out his hand, but what I only noticed was the badge on his chest.

He still held out his hand for me to shake, but noticing my hesitation he dropped his hand to his side.

"I'm -"

"He's Officer Gordon. He's here to say some things about Chloe's case and would want some questions." My mom continued.

Officer Gordon was startled when my mom continued he's speech for him but still nodded at the words.

"If it's okay with you ma'am, should we come in and sit down in your living room. It'd be a nice atmosphere than your daughter standing here outside."

"Oh yes. You're right." She replied

When Officer Gordon went to go to the living room, my mom grabbed my hands and squeezed them tightly. "I'm so sorry June, I know you've been through a lot. I tried to make excuses so you wouldn't have to answer any questions or think about the situation again, at least for awhile-"

"Mom, it's okay. The sooner I know the better, right?" she frowned at me disapprovingly but still nodded at me and after closing the front door, led me to the living room. She left the two of us to talk privately.

I sat on the sofa in front of Officer Gordon, and he the same.

"How are you Miss Williams?" he ask. Officer Gordon isn't fat nor is he thin, he's eyes is dark and his hair dishelved. Judging by the wrinkles on his forehead, he'd been through a lot in the past years. I have high respect for cops but I also felt some pity for them, some try to be intimidating, some try to be goody in order to get on your good side. I want neither, I just want the truth. Cut to the chase.

"Get to the point, Officer Gordon." I said firmly.

He blinked a few times before saying, "I see, you thirst for information just as I thirst for answers Miss Williams. I'd like to ask you some questions relating to your friend Chloe, if that's okay with you?"

"Well, do I have a choice?"

"For starters, I want you to tell me the truth, and only the truth." He's starting to sound even more formal, and it's bothering me.

"Guess not."

He shook his head and asked, "When was the last time you saw Miss Morrely?"

"Like my mom had said, I went out with her that night or hasn't she informed you about it? Chloe wanted to have a girl's night out, just the two of us. It was late when we planned to go home, it was her idea that we'd just walk.

And then she decided she wanted to stay a little bit longer, but I told her I couldn't...mom was strict on curfews. She told me she still needs to do something...go somewhere. "

"So?"

"So I left her. I told her she better text me when she gets home."

"Yes. Yes indeed she had informed me, but I wanted to know if you had maybe talked to her after? Did she tell you what exactly did she need to do? Where she was going?"

"No. She didn't tell me. She just said she needed to do something and was heading somewhere." I shrugged.

"Anything, after that?"

"I don't remember if she ever did try to contact me. My head was fuzzy." Shit, slip off the tongue!

"Did you drink that night?"

"It wasn't that much, I mean...look Officer we were only-"

"It's okay June, I know most of the people in this town, and I know you are not a troublemaker. I'd like you to stay that way. I'll let you go, just a warning though. I won't tolerate underage drinking, so next time be careful, teenagers nowadays." He sighed.

"Thank you Officer, I'll keep that in mind."

"Now was your friend Chloe sober when you left her?"

I stayed silent. I knew she wasn't completely sober but, I didn't even care that time. If only I knew then maybe, maybe she wouldn't be dead by now, if only I didn't leave her to fend off for herself. Now I feel disgusted about myself. I shouldn't have gone straight home...I should've stayed for awhile, I could've helped her and now, now I'm placing all the blame on myself.

"June-" Officer Gordon started but I cut him off.

"No...no, she wasn't sober." I swallowed the lump in my throat.

"You told me that she would text you once she gets back home, did she have her cell phone with her?"

"I didn't realize I was implying something else." I muttered sarcastically.

He sighed and answered, "June, when we found her at the riverbanks, she was pale and lifeless and bloodshot. A deep cut on her wrists and cuts on some parts of her body. Why I was asking you about her phone was because I wanted to be assured that she did bring her phone that night because when we check for her pockets or any kind of gadgets that she has brought with her, we found none."

"Although we had found a pocket knife lying on the ground at the scene, we checked for handprints on it and it had matched hers. For all we know it could be murder, but as of now-"

"Wait, let me get this straight. Are you saying she killed herself?!"

"Yes, as a matter of fact, suicide is what likely I would refer it to."

"That's impossible, she would never do something like that to herself, much more harm herself into taking her own life!" I stood up in instinct.

"Calm yourself. We haven't found any evidence that says neither, but as of now that's what we have stated. And this is where you come in, I want you contact me if there are any evidence, suspicions you have found or something you're not comfortable telling me now. As much as I agree with you that she wouldn't kill herself, there are no evidence that shows she hadn't." He pulls out a small card from his pocket and hands it to me.

"I'm not the bad guy here, June" He walks off out of the room leaving me speechless. I heard the front door close and my mom came in the living room.

I know she's asking me what happened but all I could do was stare at the calling card in my hand.
