"Come on, June. Let's just walk home!" she grabbed my wrist with her right hand where I could clearly see a glint of the charm bracelet I had given to her on her thirteenth birthday.
She looked so happy right now, the cold breeze of the night had some strands of hair sticking on her face. They were like this yellow light glowing in the dark. She's a natural blonde.
And yet even though she looked so happy I found that there was this tightening in my chest and this feeling like I wasn't happy at all but was forced to.
She was staring at me with the bluest of eyes and then...and then
BANG!
I quickly opened my eyes, the loud banging sound startled me and woke me up. I placed my hand on my chest, I breathed in hard catching my breath. Then I heard a door being slammed. Mrs. Morrely must have arrived.
I composed myself before standing up and heading downstairs.
"I've sealed the boxes already Mrs. Morrely." I told her.
Mrs. Morrely was holding a grocery on the right and the car key on the left.
"Oh, thank you dear. I'm so sorry I left you to do it yourself. It must've been hard for you going through her things."
"It's okay Mrs.Morrely, I understand you had to buy some groceries. I mean it must have been hard for you too, she was your only child."
Oh no, that didn't sound right.
"I'm sorry, I didn't mean it to sound that way Mrs. Morrely!" I exclaimed.
I expected her to say harsh words at me but instead I met the same blue eyes as what her daughter used to stare me with.
There was something clouding in those blue orbs but then disappeared the moment she closed her eyes for a second.
"No worries. And June no need for the formalities. How many times do I have to tell you to use Maire in addressing me, you know I treat you like my own daughter." she smiled, an almost forceful smile. And then she had asked me to get the other groceries that are still in the car.
I opened the front door, when I saw Sienna Carter across the driveway, her head down probably heading out somewhere to spend time to herself not that she didn't have any friends. Just a few weeks ago, when Chloe was still the living breathing Chloe, she had mentioned about Sienna breaking up with her boyfriend Chad and now she's a total wreck. Me and Sienna weren't really close, we'd only acknowledge each other sometimes.
I didn't bother about it until now. She looked like she got a hangover.
"Ah, isn't that one of the Carters?" Mrs. Morrely questioned me while I took out the groceries in the car and carried them back inside.
I nodded at her.
"Sienna? Oh yes Sienna Carter."
"Dear, dear. What had happened to her?" she said to herself.
"-I guess no matter how close you are with the person. You'll never really know them for who they really are."
Mrs. Morrely headed straight to the kitchen and I was left at the front door thinking to myself.
Now where had I heard that before?

When I went back home, just when I held out my hand to turn the door knob and open the front door, my mom opened it herself on the other side and we were both startled.
"June, dear...ah, something came up. You should stay at your friend's house for awhile." She whispered.
"Mom, I don't have much friends, and besides I only ever had Chloe." I whispered back.
