It all started with the war. The war started in the year 2239, where all technology has advanced astronomically. AI has taken control of cities, unions, and whole countries, which were left in ruin, destined to rot. Hope is almost nonexistent, but there is still a light at the end of this tunnel. There are two known sides of the war, the Stygian, and the Luminosity, although a third side lies in the dust, unknown to the public. They are known as the Calamity. The Calamity consists of four members, who are fighting to take back control of the world. Many think that they are deranged, thinking that they can save the world. While everyone else cowers in their homes, praying that they are out of harm's way, these four heroes are working to take back the planet from this robotic takeover.

The Calamity consists of the following daredevils; Jess, a thirteen year-old girl with the power to control crystals using the energy from earth's core. She always wears a crimson, feline-like mask with crystals embedded around the scalp and jaw of it. Next, Rachel, a fifteen year-old teen who specializes in the switch-axe, a very powerful weapon that can discharge an elemental outburst that can cause massive detriment if used. She is also able to call upon massive monsters, who are ancient and from legends to aid her in battle. Then, Gabriel, a fifteen year-old male who uses a glaive. A glaive is an agile weapon that is able to keep him up in the air for multiple hours without coming down back to earth, while being able to deal a lot of damage when he uses it. Lastly, Vince, the twenty-one year-old adult who has the ability to control gravity in small portions, but if used in a larger way, can break the time-space continuum. This quartet believes that they can overthrow these alien-like robots from decimating the planet, and even from bringing carnage on the whole galaxy.

Our story begins in the ruins of the once-great capital of Australia, Canberra. Everything in a one hundred mile radius has been disintegrated into ash and dust, with a few stand-alone buildings left. Everything around the group is damaged beyond repair. The Calamity is walking through the battlefield, searching for survivors, as they start up a conversation to ease the tension.

Jess: This is useless, nobody could have escaped those robots, especially with those weird-looking tanks. Not even mentioning those laser blasters, like, WHAT??

Rachel: Well, you never know. Some people are smarter then others, and might've hid before the ambush.   She winks at Gabriel

Gabriel: Hey! I take offence to that.

Rachel snickers, as they catch up to Vince, who is in the middle of searching for other life. He is carrying some pouches in his arms, with a look of excitement in his face.

Jess: Hey Vince, found anything yet?

Vince: Not much, sadly. But I did find some bags with money, keys, and even IDs in perfect condition, which might help us in the long-run!

He pulls out four different IDs which belong to various users, most likely abducted by the army that recently encroached on the city. The people were scientists, while one of them was in the army. All of them are different ages, but are mostly in the older category. Still, these could prove handy, as Rachel considers this.

Rachel: That's a great idea! If we ever need them, we can bypass locks or security scans to find some components we might need for later. We might even be able to act like those people to keep ourselves hidden!

The friends and siblings walk side-by-side as Vince hands out corresponding cards to the others, keeping one for himself.

   Jess: Hey guys, look!

The others instinctively turn towards the direction that Jess had pointed to. A house lay in bits and pieces, but next to it was a metal trapdoor in between some crisped trees and shriveled floral arrays. Curiosity spikes their minds.

Following Jess's lead, they all walked over to it and stand around the mysterious gate. Gabriel bends down to touch the metal, and runs his fingertips over it. He gritted the substance between his fingers and gave it a sniff.

Gabriel: Titanium. It's made out of titanium.

Vince: Pretty strong, but I am surprised that the soldiers didn't find it.

   Gabriel: Same.

Jess: If we can get this open, it might lead somewhere useful?

The team nods, and close in on the gateway.

Gabriel and Vince start to tug on the door, as it starts to move a little bit. But it's too tough to open with raw strength, so they turn to Rachel, who is already nodding in response, knowing what to do.

Rachel: Alright, move out of the way.

The boys move back to where Jess is as Rachel unsheathes her switch-axe, in the axe stance. She moves to the trapdoor, and starts to wind up her arm, ready to strike. There is a short silence, but all of a sudden there is a loud clang as the axe bashes into the door and is busted open. Inside is a long ladder, that descends into darkness.

Jess: Great! It's open now, and it doesn't seem like anything inside was touched! Maybe we should go down there, we might find some good loot.

Gabriel looks hesitant, but agrees by giving a short nod of his head to the siblings.  They turn to Rachel, waiting for her to be prepared as they also mentally prepare themselves to go into the unknown.

Rachel: She's sheathing her weapon.   Alrighty, are we ready to go in?

The all nod enthusiastically, as Vince pulls out and lights a torch. Crouching into the hole, they start their journey into the depths of the containment, leaving the ruins from above, and the light.
