Hide And Seek.

1..... The beginning.

"Hey Julia, "my best friend, Lisa, yelled over the phone.

I turned to look at Lisa and sighed." You could have simply walked over here. We're in the same office, remember?"

"I was banned from coming to see you by Mr Hampton."

"True. You get easily distracted with me around."

She laughed and said "Forget about that. We have a lot to talk about, let's get lunch."

"Give me five minutes to round up."

"Okay. See you around." She grinned and walked away.

I am Julia Hurst. 20 years old. My parents died in a car accident, well that was what I was told but my aunt never ceased to tell me that I killed my parents. My aunt died 2 years ago and I was left with nothing and no one to support me.

I did menial jobs like babysitting, cleaning etc. to go to school. Even though my aunt never cared about me, I felt her impact on my life when she died. After schooling, I found a job as a secretary in this company and that's where I met Lisa.

I grabbed my coat and made my way out to where Lisa was waiting."Let's go."

"Took you long enough". She said walking ahead.

"I was just 2 minutes late".

"Enough to start my story." She said frowning.

"I'm sorry, baby girl. Now that I'm here, why don't you start that story."

"Okay. So yesterday, I went to this resturant and met this......" My phone rang causing an interruption.

Private number. "Gotta pick this call, Lee." She nodded.

"Julia Hurst, you have 2 minutes to leave your office." The voice at the other end said.

"Who are you?"

"That doesn't matter now. It remains a minute, you better run along. Goodbye."

A feeling of urgency came over me suddenly, "Lisa, run." I screamed.We ran with all our might and suddenly there was a loud noise behind us.

"What was that?"Lisa said turning back to the office. "Oh my God, Jule,the office is on fire. Call the fire station quickly." She said panicking.

Before I could dial the number, a second 'bang' went off bringing the whole building down.

"Ju-julia, everyone's dead." Lisa said falling to the floor in tears. I was still in shock as I watched the building turn to ashes. Unfortunately, the office was at the outskirt of town.

"It's over, Julia." Lisa sobbed.I knelt down to comfort her but instead we both broke down again. After hours of crying, we fell asleep.

I woke up feeling very bumpy. I suddenly remember everything that happened a while ago. I checked my phone and saw that it was already half past six in the evening. I woke Lisa up so we could go home.

"Hey Lisa, wake up." She sat up and stared at me for a while.

"Jule, what's....." She suddenly burst into tears as she remembered the fire outbreak which claimed the lives of over fifty people. Looking at her brought tears to my eyes but I had to be strong for both of us.

"Let's go home, Lee. You need to get some rest." I wiped her tears and helped her up. We dusted our clothes and made our way to my car which was parked a good distance away from the office. We drove home in utter silence.

"Good night Lee. Try not to think about anything. Have a cold shower and eat a nice dinner. I love you." I said to Lisa as I stopped in front of her apartment. She nodded and got down from the car. I waited for her to get inside before driving off.

I grunted as I struggled to open the door to my apartment. I had stopped at a nearby restaurant to have dinner. I switched on the light and dropped all my stuffs on the chair. I went to my first aid kit to search for a sleeping pill since I knew it will be impossible for me to sleep without thinking about today's event. I had a cold long shower and used the drug. I will think about it when I'm in the right frame of mind.
