Lydia was an extremely kind woman that many loved. She lived in a small village where everyone knew each other. At the age of 25, she was wedded to a handsome young man, Sam. Many people in the village congratulated them. They were extremely contented with each other and after 2 years, they were gifted with a baby. The couple was overjoyed, glad that they have produced an offspring.
A few weeks after the baby was born, the husband had gotten sick due to an unknown cause. They visited the common infirmary in the village. They were told that he had only a month left to live. The husband made his wife promise to take care of their newborn so that he could rest in peace. The wife, heartbroken that she was going to lose her lover so soon, promised him.
A month later, the husband passed. The people in their village all grieved for their loss.
Another month passed and Lydia had eventually gotten over Sam.
However, a year later, there were rumours flying around that the wife had gotten crazy. Sure enough, she did. She started to believe that the reason her lover died was that she had given birth to her daughter. Instead of blaming it on herself, she turned to the only remainder of him. Their child.
She blamed her daughter for ruining her life. She blamed her daughter for killing her lover. She blamed her daughter for being the reason that she was currently like this- crazy.
The village chief heard about it and became frustrated. He wanted the best for his village, which was helping the wife to cope with the loss of her husband. However, he did not want to act weak in front of the other village chiefs, and thus he banished the wife.
Lydia was furious. She believed it was unfair, so she took her child with her. She ran to a land where there was no one in charge of the land. She bought a house next to a forest and neglected her child, only giving her one meal per day and always locking the poor soul in a small room with no windows.
They lived like that for a year and a half, the child slowly learning things on her own, like how to speak and do things independently. She could also move things with her mind, and when she told her mother, she did not care.
One day when Lydia came back from collecting eggs from the chicken farm, she noticed a letter. Inside contained:
Ms Lydia Alexandor, we have noticed that your child has these 'powers' and we are interested to find out more about her. If you would accept, we would like to take her in to find out more. We are willing to provide you with a reward in return for letting us care for your child. If you consent to this, you can leave her at the building at the end of Holland road. You will automatically receive your reward when we receive her.
Upon reading the letter, Lydia got excited. She had finally found a way to get rid of the human abomination.
However, she was reluctant as her heart still belonged to her dead husband, even though they have been apart for so long.
She soon decided that she would dedicate 6 months to her child. However, at the end of the 6 months she would let the people interested in her take her.
