Your House-Ravenclaw
Your POV
I was sat in the Library, jotting down notes for the homework given in Professor Slughorn's potions class as it rained outside. Rain trickled down the window panes, creating white noise and blocking out the quiet whispers from the several other students that were sat inside the Library too. The Library was unsurprisingly a lot busier today, due to the fact that no one wanted to be outside in the heavy rain. Normally the Library was my safe space as it was quiet and allowed me to concentrate on either reading or getting additional work done in peace. I wouldn't call myself a loner, I had several friends, mainly fellow Ravenclaws, but I much prefer reading a good book than making new friends.
As I finished up my last page of notes, I felt the seat beside me move and someone sat down. I looked up briefly and smiled, noticing that it was my friend Cho.
"Have you noticed?" She whispered as she got out her book and began flipping through the pages, making it look as if she was busy doing something.
"Noticed what?" I asked, raising my brow as I glanced up at her once again.
"He's been staring at you for ages now," Cho grinned, discretely pointing to the desk directly opposite to us, "I was looking for a certain book just before I got here and every time I looked up, I caught him."
I followed her short gaze and made eye contact with the blonde-haired boy that sat across the table from us. Our eyes met for a split second, causing me to blush, and he quickly looked down at his book, getting on with his work.
"He's definitely into you." Cho smirked and lightly nudged me in the side.
"Are you kidding?" I whispered, "Draco Malfoy, into me? I don't think so. We were partnered up by the new potions teacher, Professor Slughorn, today. He probably saw me doing the homework and maybe wants some help."
"Hmm if you say so..." Cho grinned, "Go and offer him your help then."
"I mean, I guess it wouldn't hurt..." I mumbled.
"Go on then, go!" Cho said, lightly pushing me out of my seat and making me go over to him.
Grabbing my Potions book, quill and bag, I stood up and noticed Draco glancing over at me for a second once again, before averting his eyes back to his almost empty page. I made my way around the table and toward the other side and coughed lightly, causing Draco to turn around and face me.
"Y/L/N." He said in almost a questioning tone.
"Hey, uh, I saw you were doing the potions work and well I wondered if you needed any help?" I said, trying to hide my awkwardness.
"You're offering to help me Y/L/N? Didn't know we were friends." He smirked, pushing the chair beside him out, prompting me to sit down.
"Oh don't flatter yourself Malfoy. If you don't understand the work then my grades will drop as well as yours...So really if you think about it I'm just here to help myself." I joked, sliding into the seat beside him and placing my book on the desk.
"Hmm, you've got a good point there." Draco grinned, causing my stomach to flutter slightly.
You see, I would never say I had a crush on Draco Malfoy, but there's no denying he was very attractive. This boy was able to make any girl swoon just by flashing them his perfect smile or laughing lightly. When I found out he was my potions partner I was slightly scared but also rather excited. Cho had already had enough of me talking about it during dinner earlier. I was scared as I hardly knew him and due to his bad-boy facade all I saw him as was a cocky Slytherin who bullied people for entertainment. However, as a Ravenclaw, I was able to see that this was a facade and I wanted to see what he was really like underneath. Away from his stupid posse, he already seemed like much more of a kind and friendly character.
"Hey, earth to Y/N." Draco laughed, waving his hand in front of my face, causing me to jump out of my daydream.
"Sorry." I laughed lightly, "Anyway what bit are you stuck on?"
"Just this bit here." He said, pointing to a question on the page, "I just don't remember learning this."
"Don't worry, it's easy!" I smiled, opening up my potions book to the right page and showing him my answers.
As I explained each question and he wrote down his answers, I felt him rest his free arm around the back of my chair. The sudden touch of his slightly cold hands through my uniform sent shivers down my spine and I blushed slightly.
As I finished explaining the Potion we had been learning, I felt Draco's eyes almost burning into the side of my face. I glanced up for a moment and couldn't hide the smile spreading across my face.
"Why are you staring at me? You're meant to be concentrating Malfoy!" I giggled.
"Hmm sorry." He hummed, "It's hard to concentrate when the person teaching me is just so pretty."
"Well thank you." I blushed once again.
We had just finished up the homework and at that moment Cho came up to both of us and we looked up at her.
"We should get going back to our dorm Y/N, it's getting pretty late." She said.
"Ok, we had just finished up here anyway." I replied, grabbing my book and quill and stuffing it into my bag.
I stood up, ready to leave, and Draco began to talk.
"Thanks for helping me out Y/N." He smiled, "You're actually pretty cool, we should do this again."
"It was honestly no problem and sure, just let me know next time you need help with anything. Bye Draco." I smiled as Cho and I headed out of the Library together.
"He's totally into you!" Cho exclaimed as soon as we escaped the Library.
"Shh Cho, he's going to hear you." I giggled as we made our way down the dimly lit halls and towards the Ravenclaw dormitory.
