CRASH!
"What... was that?" Alistair was struggling to find his glasses in the dim light of the room. He saw something pass by his doorframe. A shadow, one would say. He got up and looked around. He couldn't see much, but he could see that there was a light on in the hall outside his door. This was unusual. This light was almost always off unless someone was in the attic.

Alistair trudged on groggily. He saw something out of the corner of his eye and noticed that the door to his little sister's room was open. Not all the way, but enough to fit through. He heard a dull sound coming from the room. It was almost like singing. He had heard the song before. Something that his mother had sung to him, before she died.
