July 13th;
One day before the dissapearance
Markius was tired, Well. That was a small understatement. He couldn't completely pay attention to whatever his colleague was droning on about.
"Markius, Are you even paying attention?" His colleague asked, snapping him out of his thoughts.
A small embarrased blush crossed his light copper cheeks as Markius spoke in a hushed tone. "Sorry, Duke. I just- cant really pay attention to anything right now.."
Duke let out a small laugh, holding a hand to their chest as they spoke. "It's fine, Markius." They paused, moving their hand to lay back onto Markius' desk. "We all have those days that we cant focus."
Duke, who was quite honestly the best looking of his department's workforce- Black hair that seemed to be naturally slicked back, slight tone on tanned skin, always well dressed- was quite fond of the quiet, hard working colleague in Markius.
"Yeah, yeah." Markius sighed and put his head down, staring at the floor and his beat up sneakers that were probably far to worn for any comfort. "I guess it's just something that I shouldn't really worry about.."
The ticking of the clock on the wall caused another space out. He knew Duke was talking, seeing as he could hear their muffled words.
A gentle hand touched his shoulder, easing him from his spaced out state. "Mark, we should really get going. Office hours are ending soon,"
Markius glanced at the clock. 9 pm. The office hours are ending in ten minutes. Markius nodded. "Alright, go get your stuff. Duke, I'll drive you home."
What Markius didn't know was what was happening to his friend, a hurried message that would be deleted soon, he wouldn't be able to read it until he got home after dropping duke off.
"L"
"Mark, dont come looking for me after tomorrow's message. I'm gonna be okay."

Also, to clear up any confusion. Markius is pronounced like Markus. I find it fun to mess with names but keep the pronunciation the same as the normal name-
