Daniel Malory was walking along the streets of her small town, carrying her luggage along side her. Her appearance was clean and polished with a small blue silk blouse, that matched her eyes, the shirt was accompanied by a long black skirt reaching just above her knees with black heels. Daniel was visiting her father who just happened to be the police chief of Akin ,while she was on spring break from the West Coast Detectives Academy.

As she made her way towards her fathers station she heard a deep male voice yell to her from across the street.

"Well if it isn't Daniel! You couldn't help but come back to see me could yeah?"

She recognized Milo Immediately by his tall muscular form, long black hair that reached his ears.

"But of course I couldn't stay away from you for to long handsome." She could tell that Milo now wore a large smirk.

Milo Canes was her best friend since both of them were conceived. She couldn't help but tear up a little thinking about the entire year they had been away from each other. As this thought popped into her head Milo crossed the street in a steady jog.

When he reached her he grabbed her arms pulling her to him. He had forgotten how small and fragile she was. Ever since they were children she had been the type of girl who needed looking after. That's why when Daniel had announced she was leaving for the West Coast Detective Academy, he couldn't help but be slightly baffled by her job decision. But with her constant updates to her father of her continuing improvement to the school he now knew she may be a petit girl but she could hold her own weight. After all her father was chief of police.

"Milo you have no idea how much I have missed you!" Daniel exclaimed, her eyes filling with tears ready to spill.

"Danni without you in this town it has been such a boor." Milo replied back as a new playful tone filled his voice. "I haven't made fun of a single person since your absence."

"Milo Richard Cane you can be a real butt head at times." Daniel pouted smacking his rock hard chest.

"Lets use big girl words now Danni, you are after all about to reunite with your father." Milo scolded.

Milo and Daniel laughed with one another as the walked into the police station reminiscing. As they were about to make their way to the chiefs office, Milo got a call on his cell to help assemble a disorderly drunk. Milo and Daniel hugged saying their good byes, promising each other to catch up more later.

Now that Milo was gone, Daniel felt nervous about seeing her father again, after all it had been a year. Swallowing her fear she made her way to Ruth's desk. Ruth was the police chiefs personal assistant. She was about 60 years old but didn't look a day over 40. Her attire consist of an Akins police station uniform. She always said how much it made her feel professional when wearing it. Ruth was currently on the phone seeming in a deep discussion. So Daniel sat in one out of two chairs against the wall picking up a magazine while she waited. Daniel hadn't realized how much she had missed the hustle and bustle of the station. Many afternoons from school she and Milo would come down here to study and help Milo train to become an officer.

Finally Ruth seemed to have finished her conversation. With a sigh Daniel watched as Ruth looked up from her paper work to look at who had occupied the chair across the room from her. Instant recollection flashed a crossed her face. She jumped up from her desk also giving Daniel a large warm hug.

"Dear you are even more beautiful then the last time I saw you." Ruth compliments Daniel, brushing her long chestnut locks over her shoulder.

"Thanks Ruth, I've missed Akin and everyone within it." Daniel smiled happily to be in Ruth's presents again. Ruth always knew how to bring the good side out of anyone. Daniel always wondered why Ruth and her father didn't take their friendly relationship further. Ruth was a tiny petit blonde with warm brown eyes. Even though Daniels mom had left when she was 2 her father still hadn't found a women since. It made Daniel feel bad for her father when she left for the academy. Her father had never been alone since her mother left. So every since she left at 19 she called her father every day at noon and before bed, so even if he was lonely he still could count on her.
