It was the very first day of school and I was standing outside the classrooms in the hallway. The school itself looked very dull from the outside, but it gave off a good vibe. There were tons of differents students flooding the hallways. Some already knew each other and were standing in groups together while waiting for the bell. Others were looking at their schedules and trying to figure out where they're going for their first class. Either way, the hallways were pretty loud and active.
Out of all the new students I saw, there was one that caught my eye. She was standing alone, almost directly across the hallway from where I was. She looked nervous, no, she looked scared. She was standing in an awkward position, holding a piece of her hair in a frail manner. She looked like the kind of girl that didn't have many friends because she was self-conscious or just shy. I should go talk to her, she's probably anxious because of how many people there are, or maybe she couldn't find her first class. Whatever the reason being, she definitely needs some comfort right now.
I walked over to this girl and as I approached her, I started to notice some of her distinct features. She had unkempt, long purple hair and large pastel purple eyes that were downturned, creating a worried look on her face. When I had walked up to her, she had just stood there, staring at me. I probably looked weird to her, with my slanted, blue and pink bangs and somewhat horns sprouting out of my head. "Hi!" I started to say. When I said this, she jumped a little. "I'm sorry I didn't mean to startle you." I said, softening my voice. As worried as she was, she probably didn't need me shouting in her face right now.
"No, no, no, no you-you're completely fine!" the girl had finally said. Her fce turned from a light shade of pink to a bright scarlet shade. Her fluorescent violet eyes darted straight down to her feet. She clutched her hair a little tighter this time. There was, what felt like, a long pause afterward. I had to break the silence, but I didn't know how. What should I say to this girl? She was obviously nervous as it is and she didn't need me making it worse. Just as I was about to say something, the bell went off. I watched as she quickly grabbed her bag, and scampered off. I sighed, grabbed my bag, and walked away.
Class 77-B was my first hour class. I had walked in and saw a variety of different people. Along with the people that I saw, I saw that girl yet again. I smiled a little as I realized that we have the same homeroom together! She looked a bit calmer now. I decided to sit in the seat in front of her. Partly because I wanted to talk to her and partly because it was the only seat left. I was a little late because I had gotten lost trying to find my first class. Luckily for me, the teacher wasn't in the room yet so I wouldn't be counted as tardy. As I got closer to her, she gave me a quick glance and then looked back at her desk.
Everyone in the class had found someone else to talk to. Everyone except her. I gently tapped her desk to get her attention. She jumped at this and made a small noise. She then looked directly up at me with a nervous look. We made eye contact for a split second. Then she immediately broke eye contact and looked at my desk. "Hi! We didn't really get any time to fully introduce ourselves in the hallway, so um...hi! My name's Ibuki Mioda and I'm the ultimate musician! Whats your name?"
"Mi-Mikan Tsumiki, ultimate nurse..."
"Nice to meet'cha Tsumiki-chan! I hope that we can become best friends during this school year!!"
"That-That would be...nice..."
She smiled a little, I could see it. It was...cute. It warmed my heart.
