Epilogue

"Congratulations Ms. Stevens, you got promoted to an Executive Secretary for Director Banks!" The human resources officer Athena went inside the office and approaches at my table right away. "With your hard work, performance, and great attitude that you showcase as a creative associate for this company, it's no doubt that you got the promotion."

"Thank you so much Athena." I said as I was surprised. I'm lost for words. I cannot believe that I could take that way higher. My colleagues are talking back and forth. "Congrats Annie!" Lizzie, that hot girl on my left said. I replied with a smile as I'm still trying to process everything on my brain. Everyone has been greeting me and asking me questions about the promotion.

"Okay Ms. Stevens, I won't stay long, we'll just get to you later for the necessary procedures" Athena said, "I've known you for so long here sweetheart, I've seen you grow so much. You deserve it and I'm sure you can pull it so well"

"Mr. Banks? The creative executive? I heard it's pain to work with him." Claire said. 

"But he's hot though, If I were you, I'll probably spend most of my work drooling over him." Lizzie added.

"Mr. Banks is a chill man Anna, don't worry about it. He's very kind with everyone in this department. It's just that you will have a lot of work to do under him as he's a strict dude when it comes to work, I guess." Jared gave me a heads-up.

"But now that you're getting promoted, does that mean that we'll not see you often?" Claire asked all of a sudden.

"I guess not." I answered, "I'm still at the same department so I think I will still see all of your crazy faces around, might not be that often like what we do now, but I'm sure we'll still meet around."

"Okay guys, cut the crap!" Jared cuts the conversation, "When will Ms. Executive Secretary Annaliz Stevens throw us some treat?" He asked in a teasing way. We all laughed. 

But with all these little celebration with my friends, I start to think deeper. It's been a year ever since I was promoted as a digital marketing assistant to a creative associate. I just felt it's way too fast. And even though Athena said that It's all me, I still felt like there was some 'divine intervention' went on, and I think I know who that is.

The office door opens up. "Ms. Stevens, Mr. Ericson wants you in his office for a quick meeting." it's Jenna, one of the assistant secretaries for Mr. Ericson.

"Mr. Ericson? The CEO? Wow!" Claire said in fascination. "You're really in the executive world now Anna, even Mr. Ericson wants to talk to you." Claire's statement put a smile on my face, but I know it's more than that. "Yes I'll be there in a bit. I just have to fix my things here." I told Jenna.

I arrived to the CEO's office as Jenna introduced me to Peter, Peter Ericson. I entered the room and Jenna left as she closed the door. Peter offered me a seat.

"Congratulations on the promotion, Ms. Daisy Elle Ericson. Oh, I mean, Ms. Annaliz Diane Stevens." He said in a humorous manner. "Are you kidding me? We talked about this right?"

"Chill, little miss, I'm just messing around, I think that's a way to greet my sister in her work achievement." Yes you got it right, Mr. Peter Dave Ericson, is my brother. It's a long story but here we go. "I know we agreed to address you with your biological name here at work but I just can't help but miss my Daisy you know, and as I look at her, she's grown too well." He said, "I feel like a proud brother at this moment."

"Okay fine. I missed you too Pete, it's been a long time since we haven't talked like actual siblings." I said, "But just a question, do you have something to do with my promotion?" 

"Why do I feel like I know you're gonna ask me that?" He said with a smile on his face. "Well, just so you know, I am completely hands-off to your promotion. It's all you. In fact, I was just informed today when they're handing me papers to sign. I completely have no idea. I know you did all that and you did all well. I'm proud of you." He explained. "Right when you decided to live on your own and go by Anna, I realized that I've been dealing with a strong, independent, grown woman that is entitled for her own decisions and I have nothing to do with it. You've proved a lot and gained my trust. With your performance, you don't even need divine interventions at all."

"Wow that's tight." I said, speechless. "By the way, how's Emily and the kids?"

"They're doing amazing." Pete said. "The kids miss their aunt Daisy though. I don't blame them though. Daisy was a dope aunt. Well, how's Anna? I heard she reunited with her biological sister." 

"Being on my own has been really busy. It's challenging, but it's fun. Hope you can come over to my apartment sometimes, we can talk and I can cook the best lasagna." I said. "And yea, I have been in communication with Amy for a few months now. In fact, she's getting married in two weeks."

"Wow that's great news. Is there anyway we can help with the preparation?", "They got it all settled I guess."

"Oh okay, but can I come over? And, do you have a dress yet?" "Hm, that will be nice if you make it. Also, I don't have any dress yet but I can take care of that myself. I know that you'll get me something that will make me more elegant than the bride."

Pete laughed, "Wow, don't be so confident right there, young woman. You'll be getting your executive assistant money, you can handle that yourself." He joked around, "But, how about you? Do you have someone now? You know?" I can hear the awkwardness in his voice asking that question.

Pete looked at his phone as it beeped. 

"Oh, I'll be having a meeting in a bit, in which I'll also be seeing you around soon. I have to get going. Once again, congratulations and have fun."

"Thanks Pete, I'll go ahead" I said while leaving at his office door.
