As usual, It was a quiet day on the bus. There was a child on the bus that was a pain in my neck, but it's mother quickly hushed it. I let out a sigh, looking over to the window to my right, and the child's pink fluffy unicorn from the company Dancing On Rainbows. The bus had stopped, and the man beside me had got up and left this book behind. "Magic, Dragons and Everything Else" it had read. I was about to call on him to give his book back, but the title and cover looked almost too enticing. I bit my tongue and eyed him until he successfully got off the bus. Was it true? Was magic and dragons actually real? I was eager to pick up the book, but I was putting off the fact that I'm possibly stealing. Shakily, I'd pick up the book and skim to about page 52. Yikes. Before this I was keeping my nose entirely clean. But the words in the book made me jump out of my skin. "Everyone has magic in them. You don't need to be a witch or wizard or some kind of extraterrestrial species to wield it."
Violent chills raced upon me. Yes! I knew it, I knew magic was really real all this time! Heat began to rise as I flicked to the next page. "Runes. Most people have the ability to create magic through runes." The runes! I foresaw this in my dreams. I looked around to make sure no one was eyeballing me and my book of infinite knowledge. Coast clear, everyone seems to not care. Foolish people. As soon as I finally master the knowledge I'll become the most powerful thing in the world! Screee~! Ah, it was time to get off this 4-wheeled-vehicular-monstrosity. I quickly stuffed the book in my satchel and headed off the bus. Staggering with the new knowledge that I have accidentally stumbled upon, I tripped. "Are you okay?" A voice called out. Soon the unknown bogey was picking up my belongings, until he eyed the book. He picked it up and was amazed by it as well. Hiss! I made a hissing sound and snatched the book out of his hand. This book has some kind of magic on it, maybe some kind of blessing on it. Perhaps it is trying to call to the user? I must know more. "Thank you, but I don't need your help." I snapped. I picked up my belongings and went on my merry way. I looked back. The man that had tried to help me was now frozen in a trance. Amazing! It's like the book is calling on me! I wasn't affected by the trance he's in. What does it mean? I was always a cold fish when it came to people helping me, but I don't like to apologize for my actions either. Especially when my knowledge was so close from becoming stripped from me. Nonetheless, I quickly walked away from the situation to avoid anymore conflicts. I finally end up making it to my apartment. Still shuttering and smiling, I closed the door behind me and locked it quickly.
There was absolutely no doubt that I was about to become the strongest person in the world. As I continued skimming through the book, I began wondering which class of magic I specialized in. "Timid- Ice, Angry- Fire, Calm- Void, Playful- Earth, Strategic- Wind. Just to name a few of the many types of magic, they are all based on how your mood is. Biting my nails, and with a rapidly beating heart, I flipped the next page with intensity. Without any other qualms, I decided it was now or never.
...If you want to cast magic, you'll have to think about it really hard.
I had a sweet tooth, so my first thought was to grab some graham crackers, chocolate, and marshmallows. Honestly, it was a race against time before I accidentally burned down the whole apartment complex. But I was not content with the knowledge. I needed to know more about how to cast spells. With growing intensity, I moved the page over. It...was blank? I flipped through more pages. "What?" I had said out loud. There was nothing there. Ah, maybe the final page was just at the end of the book? Nothing. With my growing anger because my anticipation was all for nothing I let out a spark of flame, with it hitting the book. A rune formed on the blank page, making all the pages light up with text being written on them, much to my amazement. "Congrats, you've nailed your first spell." The book said. "There is more knowledge. If you wish to seek it, it'll be in this very book. Good luck magician." The book flew up into the center of my room and fell. I quickly went to go pick it up, with it revealing tons and tons of spells, sacred text, and more.
Honestly, I was riding high.
