Connected to Level 30
Cong Cong picked at his food on his plate. Everyone was eating dinner while he chopsticks merely picked up the substance then let gravity do its job.
"Cong Cong, did something happen?" Weiwei asked touching her son shoulder He shook his head, dropping his shoulder so her hand fell. Weiwei shot her husband a concerned look. He nodded, silently telling her he would deal with it.
Later that night Ming Yue and Weiwei were playing a Chinese Ghost story. Xiao Nai walked into his sons room to see Cong Cong writing away on his laptop. Text books surrounded him.
"What's going on?"
"Why? You finally have time for me?" Xiao Nai took a step in the room shutting the door behind him.
"Enough with the Sass." Xiao Nai grabbed Ming Yue's chair from his desk, sliding it to sit next to Cong Cong. The teenager shut his laptop with a sigh. Xiao Nai noticed the books around him weren't about of his current curriculum in school. One of the books red British Royal History down the spine.
"I didn't know they teach this at your level."
"They don't." Cong Cong slide it away from him. "I joined a college level history call on western cultures."
"When did you do that?"
"Hao Mei helped me set it up last year. Look this paper is due-"
"Cong Cong, why are you hiding that your taking College level history classes?"
"Because I'm not like you or Grandpa. This stuff doesn't come easy. I have to study a lot hard then you, and my papers take days to weeks to do. I'm not good at it."
"Why are you pushing yourself to be like us?"
"Because you were already an accomplished tech wiz by the time you entered college."
"Cong Cong did you even want to take these classes?"
"Yes."
"Then that's all you can do. We just want you to do things that make you happy and explore the reaches of your knowledge. If you are doing this to prove your as smart as myself or your mother, then please don't do this to yourself. But if you are doing these things because you want to, please continue to do them."
