[Breaking News] Kim Soo Hyun chooses IT’S OKAY TO NOT BE OKAY, a tvN drama tackling mental health issues as his comeback drama after 5 years and a year of being discharged from the military.

Kim Soo Hyun finally accepted a drama after being offered countless scripts, he was rather careful and picky with his projects but from the title of the drama he was in love and he fell harder just reading the first episode script. It was remarkable and raw. Extremely groundbreaking and a little risky. Without missing a beat he accepted it.

While he was reviewing the script he found out Jo Yong writer-nim and Shin PD’s first choice was Seo Ye Ji, he smiled hoping she accepted the role. He knew she would play Go Moon Young flawlessly.

After news broke that he accepted everyone was raving about Seo Ye Ji being the female lead, he hoped she saw the excitement and positive reaction netizens had for her to take the role but he knew choosing a script was an extremely important process.

[Breaking News] Seo Ye Ji to make her drama comeback after 2 years with tvN’s IT’S OKAY TO NOT BE OKAY, with Kim Soo Hyun.

Soo Hyun woke up to his phone blowing up, from texts to emails to articles being directed at him. He sprang up from his bed seeing Ye Ji’s name countless times. She accepted the role! She accepted the role or Go Moon Young. He screamed out and uttered some inarticulate sounds in excitement.

He called his manager to confirm the news, he was on cloud nine the whole day. Finally, after six excruciating years of hoping to work together again, even if it was a CF, they were going to be on a whole 16 episode drama together.

As the day passed by, a strange feeling of anxiety kicked in, the shooting would take around eight months. It was an extremely long time, what if he said or did something to make her feel uncomfortable or distance herself from him? What if he made things difficult for her on set? It was the last thing he wanted to happen for her, but it was difficult to control himself around her. He wanted to make her laugh and make her comfortable. Maybe he should focus on that, making her comfortable and laugh. He wanted it to be an unforgettable shoot.

The days passed by excruciatingly slow, especially with COVID halting and affecting normal activities and getting strict instructions to quarantine themselves, Soo Hyun was at home, counting down the days to shooting. Hoping the cases decreased and the virus would be managed so nothing would be affected as a delay in the shooting will affect everyone, from the cast and crew to the venues they booked and such.

South Korea had great measures to manage and access the situation so slowly bit by bit, things were almost going back to normal, restaurants and malls were open but with restrictions of the capacity of customers it could hold for a certain timing with social distancing but by no short of a miracle, shooting schedules were not greatly affected.

They did have to cancel a trip overseas where they were supposedly shooting a few scenes for the later episodes but the crew found alternatives so he prayed it did not affect the crew and cast and the storyline much.

D-Day, it was the first script reading day. The cast and a few of the crew members were going to be present and they will finally get a few other episodes of the drama to practice with each other as well. He was extremely nervous, it was not just a cameo but he was finally making a comeback after 5 years and the female lead happen to be Seo Ye Ji. He had hoped to work with her but not being in dramas for 5 years and just coming out of the military he was worried about how much things on set and shooting changed.

He took out the dark green bomber jacket his mother bought for him and wore it, pairing it with a black hat. He was fidgeting the whole way to the venue, as he approached the meeting room he heard chaos, indicating the majority of the cast and crew had arrived and were greeting each other. Indeed, as he walked in almost everyone was present and so was she.

Wearing a simplefull-sleeved top with grey trousers and her hair in a loose ponytail, with barely any makeup. She looked beautiful, he thought, he would not dare say anything to her directly, afraid he’d make her feel uncomfortable. He did not know how it was possible but she looked even more stunning than he remembered, a lot more mature as well.

She greeted him, smiling brilliantly at him. He did not notice he was smiling at her and staring at her until Oh Jung Se approached him and called out for him. “Oh Hyung, how are you.” they greeted each other.

Everyone took their seats as the scripts were handed out to everyone, he looked over and felt a little relieved Ye Ji was sitting opposite him and not beside him or else he would have been stuttering while delivering the lines due to nervousness.

As the script reading progressed smoothly, full of laughter, anticipation, and intensity they established an untouchable rapport with each and every of the cast. A surprisingly smooth and fun reading despite not having any practice and getting new scripts for the first time.

By the end of the script reading everyone was beaming and had an unexplainable love and respect for the script and storyline. Everyone was exhilarated and excited to start shooting and share it with the world.

They got up and took pictures with each other for the promotional video and for viewers. He gestured to her to stand in the middle as he joined her, adjusting himself and standing tall.

“I cannot wait for shooting to start, this drama is going to bring up so many topics and conversations,” Soo Hyun said to Ye Ji and Jo Yong.

“I absolutely hope so too.” Ye Ji replied, looking hopeful.

Everyone bid each other farewell and hoped to see each other soon when the shooting started in a couple of weeks. Again, today he was tongue-tied and did not get to say much to her. He had to wait for a few more weeks to be able to interact with her again.

But the few moments he talked to her was worth the wait, since he last saw her. It was worth every minute he hoped she took on the role. It was truly worth the yearning he felt all these years. But something in him snapped, he did not want to wait around anymore, he did not want to be in the shadows hoping and wishing for things to happen. In two weeks official shooting for the drama will start and he wanted to make sure he did not sit around and wait for another 6 years.

Maybe he would not have, maybe he could tell her or show her how he felt. Maybe the universe will collate to help him and the stars will align for them.
