The thing about cats, the thing that everyone seems to forget, is that all cats are hunters. If you don't believe me then try this you'll see the truth. First find a cat, it can be a fierce street Tom, an old lap moggie or even an innocent kitten fresh to the world with milk stains on its whiskers. Second, dangle a piece of string before them, make the string dance and jump, make it skip across the floor like a frightened mouse. Third, watch the claws come out, the eyes turn to slits and the hunter emerge.
Now, at this point, it's important to remember that cats don't care much for string. It's not like if you follow this cat home you'll discover it has a whole wardrobe full twine and yarn, its favorite stands neatly displayed on the walls. No, cats care not for string.
Cats are hunters, and hunters love to hunt. And when you dangle that piece of string the cat wants to catch it, not to eat it, keep it or even hug it. No, the cat wants to hunt it.
