It was an amazing day today, when I received that invitation. BFB, a beautiful ship, and I was invited to it! I didn't want to get in the way of my parents anymore, and I was sure they didn't want me around either. I guess... It was the best thing I could've done, for everyone's sake. I rushed to our kitchen, and opened our fridge, nearly slipping on the wet kitchen tiles on the way there. I hauled open our fridge, and looked. 3 cans of chicken soup, and a bottle of water. Should be good enough for tomorrow, hopefully. I was about to take some cans out, when I remembered I had no bag to put them in! I face palmed, before dashing out of the kitchen again, into the corridor, and heaving myself up the stairs.
I slammed open the door to my bedroom, nearly waking up my drunk step-father. Tears welled in my eyes as I remembered my real father, and his kind and comforting words, and how he would cuddle me whenever I was sad because of my mother... Yes, running away was definitely the right thing to do. I quietly slank into my tiny room, and grabbed my old school backpack. Luckily all I could afford after working my part time job, and hiding the money was a plain black one, but I say the constant bullying by my peers was worth it, so that now no one would realise it was a school one. I also grabbed some papers and a pencil, along with some other stationary. I took all of it and put it in a small bag I made for a textiles assignment, and put it into the backpack. I also grabbed a diary, this one to be exact, and it went into the bag aswell. Before I put it on my back I also brought a change of shoes from my closet, and a coat, for when it gets cold. I think taking up the extra space will be worth it. I zipped up the bag, and slung it on my back. I walked to the bathroom to get a toothbrush and toothpaste, and then looked at my reflection. Was I really worth being on a ship, looking for an island that's so prestigious as Dream Island? I hope I am, I would love to see 5 square miles of paradise, even if it was without any friends. I took a brush and looked down to my Stanley knife. I picked it up. There was still some blood on it, and after brushing a while and thinking, I had a clean knife, and a clean mind. I'm going to put it here, on the first page of my new journal. I will never cut again. I put everything into the bag, before making my way down the stairs, making sure not to wake the drunk man whom my mother married.
I opened the fridge once more, and after the change of shoes I could only fit two cans, plus a water bottle. I wondered if I even needed it, maybe the ship will have all of it there? I hope I haven't brought too much, that would be embarrassing. But it's done now, I just have to hope no one laughs at me. Before I left I also put in two oranges and a torch, as well as some batteries, incase the ship didn't come up to today's standards of food and light quality. I hope it does though. As I was about to open the door, I heard a massive stomp, and turned around to see my step-father looking at me, still with a bottle of wine in his hands.
" Now, where do you think you are going?"
I didn't say anything. Or we'll, I couldn't anyway, but even if I could talk I would've stayed silent.
" Whatever you faggot, just let me get over there and roughen you up a bit, eh?"
Still no reply, and no movement either. I could tell this pissed him off.
" You little shit, say something you mute fuck!"
At this point he raised his bottle of wine, and I could tell he was going to throw it at me, so I threw the door to our house open and blocked the bottle. A bit of glass still got into my ankle, and as I half bolted away, with him in tow, I was limping in pain.
And now I'm here, on the streets. My watch says it's 1 am, but I'm not feeling very tired. I hope it's just the adrenaline, and not my anxiety again. I'm still picking the glass out of my ankle, there was alot more than I thought... I'll write again tomorrow.
