The Accidental Murder

Young 17 year old Tim, son to the Coopers had just been thrown out of his house. He had pulled off a small robbery of some jewellery but this stood against everything their family believes and so he was kicked out. Being so young with no college degree and no money he was helpless. He couldn’t get any job that gave him a living, shelter to sleep or any food to eat. After all those years of lavish living he couldn’t last a day on the streets.

A whole night passed by with him all alone in the cold winds. He starved for the rest of the day and was already frustrated. He walked far away from his house into an unfamiliar locality. Just then, he saw a family of 3 stepping out of a luxurious car on the porch of a huge house- The D’souza manor. The lady was holding a designer bag and the man was wearing the finest tux. A young girl who looked around the same age as Tim accompanied them. Clearly, they were rich and would be capable of paying a handsome amount as ransom.

As the D’souza family relaxed on their couch, a kidnapping was being planned in the mind of a jealous and helpless boy. Tim was in desperate need of money and decided to make this family his target. Tim found an abandoned building and easily broke into it to use it as a place to hold his captive. Over the next few nights he staked out near their house to see if any of them leave the house after fall of dark. To his satisfaction he saw that after Mr. and Mrs.D’souza were asleep, their daughter Sarah would sneak out in the night to secretly smoke. Now she had become Tim’s main target. He gathered all gear that he would require such as ropes and tapes which were lying around in the abandoned house and finally decided to bring his plan into action.

He waited till dark for the girl to come out. Just like every day, that night too she came out late at night. Tim ran towards her as soon he saw her coming out. He grabbed her and hit her in the head with something he found near him causing her to fall unconscious. He carried her to the building and tied her onto a chair. He broke into her phone using her fingerprint and contacted her parents asking for 1 million dollars ransom.

Carl and Olivia D’souza, her parents were worried sick hearing this news about their daughter, but they weren’t people to give up easy and pay the money. They contacted the police who got their as soon as possible. Tim saw the police sirens and panicked so he moved Sarah who was still unconscious to another hidden and secluded room near the basement which was entered with a trapdoor; it had no windows, it was only filled with a bunch of AC ducts. After a long search, the police finally decided to search that house. Tim found a little closet which was barely visible and snuck in there. The officers entered the building and turned on all the switches to see if the current was working, to their surprise everything was in perfect condition. After a full search of the house they failed to find the trapdoor leading to Sarah but they did find the closet with Tim hiding. As soon as he was discovered Tim bolted from there. To stop him one of the officers shot him.

He fell unconscious but they needed answers soon, so he was rushed to the hospital. The doctors said he was shot in a very sensitive place and has gone into a coma. Now Sarah was stuck in the room just gaining conscious but completely clueless of her whereabouts and her parents crying as Tim was the only one who knew where she was. The police searched for days in the house, questioned neighbours meanwhile, the doctors did everything they could to wake up Tim. After four days of working 24/7 there was no luck. Finally the trapdoor was revealed, the officer opened it and headed to the room which was boiling hot and found Sarah tied on the chair dead.

She was taken to the forensic lab to find out what happened meanwhile her parents are cursing Tim and blaming him for the death of their daughter. After a few tests it was confirmed that the intense heat took her organs for a toll and eventually killed her. The heat came from the various AC ducts in the room as the AC had been turned on. Now the D’souzas wanted to press charges against Tim who still lied in a coma. After further investigation it was found out that the Deputy Officer was the one who had turned on the AC in the first place while trying to test the electricity. Since then place was turned into a crime scene and the electricity had continued to stay on. For the heat hadn’t been released Sarah could’ve still been alive today.

Now who is the murderer- the boy who locked an innocent girl in a room after kidnapping her, or the Police man who unknowingly had become one of the main reasons for the death of Sarah.

While Tim lied in the hospital the police officer was being investigated. It was impossible to retrieve any fingerprints from Sarah’s body since the sweat has wiped everything away, therefore leaving no proof of who the kidnapper was. The parents were completely puzzled with no idea who to press charges on. In this process Tim’s parents were identified and called to the hospital. Several days passed in the hopes of Tim waking up, and finally after a long month and a half he was awake from the coma. Tim turned his story around in the hopes of saving himself. He said that he himself was kidnapped and was completely innocent. His reason for running at the sight of the police was because he assumed they were the kidnappers. The police bought this story as there was no proof leading against it and he was pretty much of the hook. His parents had a long talk with him and let him back home. Many court orders later they declared Tim completely innocent and went off in search for kidnappers who they thought were still out there. Of course they never found anyone as it was Tim who now was happily in his house after being partially responsible for ruining the life of two parents. The police man who had turned on the switch was given a sentence for 20 years since he was “accidentally” guilty.
