This is a lil small something I did to get back in practice ✨💫

Todoroki Shouto is not like any other 10 year old boy. He's seen things and felt things before that no child should. Been pushed past his limit so many times.

His existence is not entirely a happy one.

His father seems to be the bane of this existence...especially now that his mother has been sent away.

That being said he doesn't get much time to himself, time to enjoy himself. To laugh and learn and love and play the way other children do.

The way he longs to do.

That being said this is possibly the happiest he could get. Out on the forest, away from man and their cruel, cruel ways.

He likes to disappear occasionally, but only when his father leaves home for days at a time on a business trip. Only when he knows he can't get in trouble.

Originally hed found his way to the woods in a desperate attempt to escape after the...incident with his mother. When that man had finally pushed her over the edge.

Now days it is an escape, just maybe not quite as literal as he'd hoped it would be all that time ago.

That's how he'd found himself here walking an old dirt trail in the middle of nowhere.

He'd been wandering for maybe an hour when he heard it. The soft gurgling of a stream...maybe a river. He tilts his head and changes direction walking toward the sound of the water.

He hears you before he sees you. Your soft hums and mummers seemingly being carried by the water droplets jumping in the air.

He stops when he hears it. Should he turn back? Who's making that sound? Do I really want to know?

The answer is yes...yes he does.

His father may pride himself on making the small half and half boy into a weapon of mass destruction but in his heart Shouto is still a 10 year old boy.

A very curious 10 year old.

Mismatched eyes widen in disbelief as he encroaches upon the stream and sees someone hovering just slightly over the surface of the clear crystalline waters.

He doesn't think he's ever actually seen another person on one of these little nature walks of his. He's also definitely never been around someone his age and you seemed to be just that...maybe a year or too behind him. Your eyes were closed In concentration as you hovered over the clear clean water. He wondered if you even realised he was there.

You knew he was there before he'd known where he was. The water in and under his skin calling out to you the closer he got. The water in the air around him vibrated slightly faster on his left side....as if they were unconsciously heating up and moving faster.

You turned to face him and you both gasped.

[Y/E/C] and Mismatched eyes meeting. Your grasp must have resonated to deeply in your chest because after word you fell into the flow moving water.

He didn't even have to think about it, going in after you when he noticed you had yet to resurface. What if you couldn't swim?

It seemed he was the one who needed to be saved though as he hadn't realized just how deep the water was. There seemed to be a drastic drop, likely some kind of underwater chasm or crevice. You'd noticed from where you had gone under that he was beginning to sink into the darkness of the deepest part of the river. You swam toward him hooking his arms around yours and swimming back to shore.

As soon as you mad it back to land you felt as though the strength had been sapped from you. Collapsing on your back next to the now sputtering boy.

You looked over, panting. "Hey are you okay?"

He looked over to you. Why were you asking that question? It was his own fault he'd not veen paying attention.

"Yeah" he says meeting your eyes again. You smile at him. Happy he's okay.

Had this meeting taken place many years later at the beginning of his high school year maybe he wouldn't have turned to you and asked you just what the hell you were doing.

But he did.

Uhm that was short but I'll do more so hehe 😜
