Magic Within Part 2

Start from the beginning

"I don't think that's how it works," I whispered back, but I did as he said.

Apparently, the Crab agreed with me. It raised its claw, and brought it crashing down towards the boat.

"GO!!" Ajani yelled, sprinting to the front of the boat. I sent the boat shooting forwards. I felt the exhaustion creeping up on me, but I had to keep going. The Crab took another swipe at us. Sparks flew between AJ's fingers. He pointed at the Crab with both hands, and lightning arched from them to the Crab with a loud CRACK. The Crab's second attack fell harmlessly behind us, sending spray up and thoroughly drenching both of us. It then sank back beneath the waves.

Ajani sat back at the end of the boat, and started to wring his hair out. "What else did I miss?"

"Seven wind spirits, two giant squids and a sea serpent." I said, trying to find a suitable spot to beach the boat.

"Wow. You've been busy." He smiled.

"Mmm." I spotted an empty patch of sand, partially hidden by some palm trees and I steered the boat over to it. We climbed out and pulled it up past the high-tide point. I lay down on the sand, fighting the urge to close my eyes.

"Need a hand?" AJ asked, his arm extended. Groaning, I grabbed his outstretched hand, and he heaved me up off the ground.

"I'm gonna go see if there's a town or something around here. We'll need to ditch the outfits." AJ said, gesturing to the prisoner outfits we were both wearing.

"I'll find somewhere we can sleep." I said. "It's probably best if we avoid inns for now."

"Okay. I'll be back soon." AJ said, before jogging into the trees.

I spun around pointed in a random direction and shrugged. "This way, I guess."

DIMITRI

Yo. Neri wanted me to write this part, so here goes nothing.

I'm not sure what happened to Fraier at the beginning, he doesn't want to talk about it.

No. I don't.

That's what I said.

Anyway, I got woken up a few minutes after I fell asleep.

Pity. You could have used the beauty sleep.

Hush. I'm telling the story. Not you.

The people who woke me up were in a uniform I'd only ever seen once. Red and black everywhere.

Red and black are always everywhere. That's literally the colour theme of the whole place.

I told you to hush.

And I ignored you. May I remind you who the leader of this expedition is?

Aww, c'mon guys. Can't you get along for long enough to write down what happened?

Fine...

Okaay...

Where were we up to?

*Sigh*

You were describing your escorts.

Oh yeah.

Both of them were girls. They pulled me out of bed and walked me out of the building. We headed towards the main tower. We must have walked up 11 thousand flights of stairs before leading me to the big double doors at the end of the hallway.

There aren't eleven thousand flights of stairs. There are six.

It felt like eleven thousand. How do you know how many there were?

I counted.

Of course you did.

Anyway, they led me through the big doors, into a throne room. No. I'm not kidding. The only thing that was missing was a king. Instead, Harold sat on the giant chair, looking all menacing-like. The guards marched me up to the dais that the throne sat on, past all the trophies that hang on the walls or rested on podiums. Fraier was already there, standing in front of the dais, next to where I was. You wanna take over from here?

Okay.

Harold glared at us both, gripping the armrests of his chair. He said nothing.

Dimitri flicked his hand at me, confused.

What's going on?

Not Now. I quickly gestured back. I gritted my teeth, hoping that Harold hadn't noticed the exchange. He simply stared at us, as if he was trying to look into our souls.

He probably WAS.

*Annoyed glare*

A few moments later, Neri was thrown into the 'throne room'.

That hurt. A lot. They literally THREW me into the room. I landed on my face.

*stifles a laugh*

Don't laugh!!

Sorry.

If I may continue...

Sorry Fraier.

Neri stood up and joined us. For better or worse, we'd all be going through this together.

Harold stood up.

I didn't know what to expect. I've only heard stories of him, and I'd dismissed most of them as fake.

I was stupid to do so.

He tossed a sack at our feet.

"Get.

Them.

BACK!"

And with that, he stormed out of the throne room.
