 Olivia's POV

It was just a normal day in Queens. Nothing much ever happens here.  Five years ago from today, there were Heroes. A group they called the Avengers. I never really cared about them, but my Mom was an Avengers fanatic. But like I said, the Avengers were the world's super heroes. But after five years, they disappeared, completely off the grid.

I was in my room getting ready for my first day at Midtown High School. I selected a cute blue long-sleeved blouse with blue jeans and my favorite necklace to compliment it. I began packing my bag with my necessities, then I put my ear buds in. I went down stairs to find my Mom looking at her ring. Today was her anniversary with him. He disappeared when I was ten but, it seems like he just didn't care. He promised he would come back but, he left mom and I so, honestly, I never really want to see him again.

"Mom. Mom! Mom, Mama, Mamo, Mother, Buddy, Mamamamamamamamamamama, Maaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaa..."

"What!?" She yelled back

"Are you going to take me to school?"

"You have school today?" She questioned

"Never mind Mom... I can walk."

As I went to the door, my Mom grabbed her car keys and went out to the car.  When we got in, my Mom froze. She sat and stared into the oblivion. For a good fifteen minutes we just sat in the car. I was getting tired of it; this happens all the time. I didn't want to be late on my first day, so I got out of the car and left.

"I am just gonna walk...  I know that today is difficult for you." I said.

She did not say anything. She just sat there in her misery. I don't know why she holds on to the memory of my father. I'm not sure why she cares so much.

As I walked to school, I thought about what my dad might have been like, but the same picture kept popping up in my head.  A jerk who cared more about himself than anyone else in the world. When I got to Midtown High, I sat on the bench and waited for the bell to ring. As I waited for about 5 minutes, the bell finally rang, and I had to get to my first class: Chemistry. I learned about Atoms, which I already kind of knew about. But let's just say after a miscalculation for a chemical reaction, I might need to double check my knowledge. So, I had to clean up the mess. Then I went to English.

In English, we were assigned a paper that is due tomorrow on Tuesday. After English, I went to History. We just continued to talk and talk and talk, where I almost fell asleep because it was boring. It's just constant talk about wars that happened in America.

Lunch. When lunch came around, I felt pretty lonely. I didn't know anybody, there were a bunch of different cliques or social groups. But as usual, I was not part of any of them. I was used to sitting alone at lunch already, so I sat at a table by myself. But a boy who was talking to one of his friends, came and sat down next to me. He had short brown hair, emerald green eyes and wore blue jeans with a red athletic shirt.

"Hi, my name is Josh," he stuttered, "Josh Thompson. "

"Hi, I am Olivia," I paused, "Olivia Parker."

"I just noticed t-that y-you were... alone."

Then there was a long awkward Moment of silence. Even as other people's chatter filled the lunch room, it was kind of embarrassing.
