A Dark Path Ahead

After Echidna saw the teary reunion, she laughed uncontrollably and interrupted them.

"Sadly for you two, this is the only time you will know the truth," she stated.

"What do you mean by that, Echidna?" asks Subaru, confused and looking intently towards her.

"After you leave this place, you will have no recollection of what happened, you will forget me because that is my curse, a curse that you must not be spoken in the outside world that is why you'll forget," Echidna explained.

"Forget everything..? Then this was all for nothing..? Emilia will forget about the curse? Then there really is no way of anyone knowing the truth.." Subaru murmured disheartenly.

"It wasn't for nothing Subaru," Emilia said. "I promise you even as we leave this place. I may forget but the feeling will always be there no matter what, I will never leave you." she assures him.

"Emilia.." Subaru whispered. A glint of hope on his face.

"Aww. You ruined the fun for me, well atleast it may be possible to remember but I don't expect of it to happen," Echidna told them. "After all, it's impossible to know the truth."

They left the Witch of Greed's realm to look for Otto so that they could enter The Sanctuary and meet with Master Roswaal. As both of them woke up in a strange tomb, Emilia mumbled the name "Subaru" when she saw him. She did not know why but she felt a suddent outburst towards seeing him. On the other hand, Subaru also has no recollection of what happened or why they were inside a tomb but as they left, they saw Otto being maimed by a yellow-haired beast.

"Otto!" Subaru yelled as he ran to protect him.

But then Subaru saw the face of the beast and the teeth of his reminded him of someone, he realized that it was Garfiel.

"Wait! You are Garfiel right? We know Frederica!" Subaru shouted before Garfiel had the chance to tackle him.

"So that girl behind you must be Emilia, the half-devil?" Garfiel intimidately asks.

"HALF-ELF! not half-devil you arrogant bastard!" Subaru corrects with a menacing look towards him.

Subaru helps Otto stand up and carried back to the carriage.

Garfiel went up to Subaru and said "Well then, I'll take you to The Sanctuary where Roswaal is."

They continued to travel with Garfiel's guidance but even after Subaru and Emilia encounter the Witch of Greed, they have no recollection of what happened but somehow the two of the grew closer. Emilia might not realize yet but deep inside, she already loved Subaru without even thinking about it.

Sorry it turned out to be short but I just wanted to make a short story about Emilia finally knowing the curse and every pain Subaru had experience because of it in a non canon way but I used the starting plot of arc 4 in Re zero series so that my story fits well with the series. I don't want to take credit on the characters nor the series and pictures as well. I just wanted to make another unofficial Re Zero IF like what the author do whenever it's Subaru's birthday. Hopefully you enjoyed the story and forgive me if every I had a mistake or a grammatical error, this is my first time creating a story here in wattpad.
