The Branch

We lived on a branch
High above the ground
Just us nobody else around
I liked it, felt safe there in amongst the clouds.
No cities and no towns.
Light and dark, dawn and dusk
Away from all the chaos and the cacophony of sounds.

The unnatural sounds of alarms
And phones and planes and automobiles.
Far away from nature,
Where everything is beautiful and real.

My branch meant everything to me
But as I grew older I begun to see that
There were a lot more places of wonder.
Places to learn, socialise and ponder. What is the meaning of life? What should I do with it?

My branch was safe and secure and comfortable. But as I got older I realised I needed to quit my little pocket of existance. I needed to explore the world with curiosity, not resistance.
