"Now, take your right hand and place it on my waist." She stated.

"Where?" Ron was surprised.

"My waist." A couple of people whistled. "And then bend your arm." She said adjusting him. "Mr. Filch if you please." Mr. Filch let the music fill the room. McGonagall and Ron danced very awkwardly around the room.

"Everybody come together." She yelled after them. I was the only girl that didn't stand up. None of the boys did either. I really didn't want to dance with any of those losers. "Boys on your feet, you as well Miss Thyme."

Professor McGonagall paired each of us with each other. I really hope I didn't get paired with someone I hated like Malfoy, now that would be horrible. Instead I got paired with Neville. He seemed a little nervous, but yet again I didn't want to do this either. Neville and I danced around the room.

"Don't worry if you step on me Neville, it doesn't matter, we're just learning." I smiled up at him and he smiled back.

"You know, you're one of the only girls I've met that isn't all squealy like the others."

"I'll take that as a compliment." I said looking down at our feet.

"Mr. Longbottom, I would like you to take a turn with Miss Bulstrode, switch partners." I looked at who I had to switch with and of course to my luck, it had to be Malfoy. I had no choice but to dance with him. Draco and I already knew how to dance due to the fact that the Malfoy's always host a Christmas Ball as well and we were ushered into learning.

"Well, that's fate I guess." He said putting his hand in mine and his other around my waist. We looked like professionals the way we danced. People stopped to look at us. It was quite embarrassing. He spun me around and then dipped me leaning quite close to my face.

I think I blushed a little as he brought me back up. I then heard the twins whistle at us. I glared at them.

"Miss Thyme, Mr. Malfoy, I am quite impressed. Have you had lessons before?" McGonagall stared at us.

"As a matter of fact, we have. My mother and father host Ball's quite often and knowing them, they made me and Nyx learn in our second year."

"Well I am very impressed by you two, very impressed." She smiled and walked away to help Neville and Millicent Bulstrode. After we had been excused for the day Fred and George came up behind me.

"What's it with you and Malfoy? I thought you two hated each other." Fred asked.

"We do." I stated

"Then what was that all about?" George widened his eyes.

"Look, I don't know, he just completely took over and it was weird. I just want to forget about it alright?"

"Good, we don't want you to get mixed up with that piece of junk." George said and walked away with his twin.

Later that day me, Hermione, Harry, and Ron walked down to some rocks by the Black Lake and did nothing in particular. We were sitting down there and there comes Viktor doing his work outs with a bunch of girls following behind him. It was really annoying how half of the girls from our school followed him around everywhere. He looked at me and smiled and I smiled back.

"Has he asked you to the Ball?" Hermione seemed interested.

"No, I don't think I want to go anyway."

"WHAT!" she screamed. "What do you mean you don't want to go? If I go you have to!"

"Ok, but only if someone asks me first, I don't want to go empty handed do I?" I looked at the boys. They still hadn't got dates yet.

The next day in Snape's class we were taking a test, which was easy if I do say so myself.

"This is mad, by this rate; we'll be the only two without dates." Ron whispered to Harry. I looked up at them as I finished the essay I had been writing. Snape came and pushed Ron's head and walked away.

"Well, except Neville." He added.

"He could take himself." Harry said.

"It might interest you to know that Neville's already got someone." Hermione whispered back to them. He had asked Ginny to go, which I thought was cute.

"Now I'm really depressed." Ron looked down at his paper.

"You two better get a move on then." I said quietly.

"I don't see you with a date." Ron practically shouted.

"If someone wants to go with me, then they'll ask me, I'm not the one who's going to ask." I stated. Fred passed a paper to Ron that read 'Get a move on, or the good ones will have gone'

"Who are you going with then?" Ron threw it back.

Fred then he scrunched a paper into a ball and threw it at Angelina Johnson. He pointed at her then did a little dance and then pointed back at himself mouthing the words 'will you go to the ball with me'. Fred is so annoying, but he'd be a good person to go to the Ball with. Fred turned back to Ron and winked.

"Hermione, you're a girl." Ron started.

"Well spotted." Hermione sounded annoyed. I was waiting for her to be finished with her essay when Snape came and snacked Ron and Harry upside the head.

"Come on, it's one thing for a bloke to show up alone, but for a girl it's just sad."

"I won't be going alone, because believe it or not someone's asked me." She said angrily picking up her stuff and handing her notebook to Professor Snape. I stood up glaring at Ron and me and Hermione stepped out of the classroom.

"God he's such a prick." I said to Hermione. She didn't say anything. "By the way, I'm the only one who knows who's asked you." She stopped in her tracks.

"How do you-"

"It's simple really. I got asked by Viktor and I told him that I really like him and all, but I thought he should ask you, and I guess he took my advice. He asked me to tell him more about you; he was interested so I did. He really likes you Hermione."

"Why wouldn't you say yes to him when he asked you?"

"I don't know. He's sweet and kind, but I just-"

"Did you get asked by someone else?"

"No, I just, don't want to go that's all."

"Nyx, you told me that if you got asked you would go!" she squealed.

"I know, I know. Okay, the next person who asks me I'll tell them yes, unless it's someone like Malfoy."

"Alright, I'll hold you to that." She said and walked away.
