Before I say this please know I'm not mad at anyone specific, or even mad period, I just want to clear this up.
I don't care if Marvel says the twins are seventeen in Age of Ultron. They don't even look close to seventeen. Maybe twenty-three to twenty-five, in this fic I'm pretty sure I set the age for twenty-five, but the bottom line is they are not seventeen and there is no extreme age gap.
