Weather it was for better or for worse, earthly creatures had been taught the gift of magic. It was probably a mistake, but the world had been granted with this gift and many decided to use it to their advantage.
Along with magic came other things. Like creatures made of the elements, guarding sacred places. Beings as tall as mountains, that start roaming the lands. And many stranger anomalies started to occur. whether they be a byproduct of the world's new magical abilities or a completely new thing, no one would ever know.
Over time as the ability to use magic became more of a necessity instead of a convenience, schools were built to teach more people about this gift that was taught to them in ages long past. With more and more people being exposed to this new power came new inventions and discoveries, and there's still so much more to learn from this everlasting tool.
Though with power in the hands of many, could spell corruption for some. Magic isn't always glittering spells and sunshine after all.
