'That was fast?...' I thought to myself as I stepped out.
I looked around to see...a lake? That was odd, I remembered that there were only supposed to be two other lakes? Maybe the instructor forgot to tell us about this one. I looked around to see if anyone else was there but I was alone. I wasn't freaking out, but I was more puzzled. Why was no one here and why did no one mention this place? Even if we weren't aloud to come here they would have mentioned that.
I looked around to then see a sign. The Kanji was a little worn out but I was still able to piece out the writing. It looked like it was written in an older fashioned way because it was written with ink...on wood. Or maybe it was just something weird they did around here.
"Ya-mo-to. Yamoto? I'm pretty sure this is the lake dad mentioned to me during my story times. Haha, good times," I then rubbed my eyes a little in disbelief wondering if I read it wrong.
"Maybe I can't read old folk kanji is all. Yeah, that's it...." I sighed and then sat down on the dock that was placed there.
I remembered about the stuff I picked up earlier at home and took them out of my bag. I looked at them more closely and then felt a bit uneasy after seeing what they had written in them.
"Letters from dad...for my birthdays...."
Dad started writing letters for both my mother and I once he noticed how bad his condition was getting. He wrote to age 80 for the both of us. It was kind of ridiculous at first, but I was glad he did so. Each of the letters had something special in it for each year and we both cherished them.
I saw the one for my 18th birthday. I knew I wasn't supposed to open it until then, but knowing that one was probably going to be an amazing one, I couldn't help but open it.
Dear (Y/n),
If you're reading this, it means you're 18! Congrats honey, you must look so beautiful right now. Just like your mother, but more like me and my charms (don't tell her I said that). Anyways, this year I wanted to tell you a little more about that story I used to tell you growing up.
Remember when I told you that you wouldn't ever be able to fine that string? Well, guess what, I was lying!! Yay!! Haha, I actually figured out back then when i was cleaning up and found some scrolls that the river comes out every now and then. Only people that are related to the string by blood will be able to see it. So if you ever do...I would tell you to run away but I feel like you wouldn't no matter what.
So, if you do want to see if it's real, look around for a rock with a red stone on the top. It should have a seal on it, but don't worry, because as soon as you touch it, the seal will break off and let you near the rock. Then you'll have to punch in a password so you can find the box in there with the string in it. Though I don't know what the password is, but try as many combinations as you can!! Good luck and I love you my little sunshine.
-Love Daddy
I smiled sadly after reading this. My heart ached a little after hearing what my dad had written to me. He knew how important this story was to me growing up, and even though I had grown away from it, he still tried to put in an effort to light up a spark in me yet again.
I then got up and looked around for the rock. I started near the doc, and then moved towards a small shrine that looked out of place. I sighed and then moved along to that sign made of wood.
"Where could it be," I then looked out to see something that was shining. It was at the top of a tree. I wasn't very athletic and had little core strength, but I made sure to put in my effort when it came to climbing it.
My back hurt after and I was panting by the time I had seen what was hanging off one of the branches. It was the rock he was talking about. The tree looked like it was holding onto the rock and I could tell...that was the seal. The way it protected what was in it's possession, I could tell right away.
I then put my hand onto the rock hoping for a reaction. Luckily, the tree started to slither away and I grasped onto the rock quickly before it fell. I was able to climb down with the item to then hear me saying.
"The tree...just moved...." ;-;
I then backed away a little frightened wondering what else was lurking in this place. Well to be Frank, it actually looked very beautiful compared to what I always envisioned. Growing up, I thought lake Yamoto would have been a monstrous place filled with swamps, leeches, and darkness. But this place had lush green trees, plumped fruits growing off of different plants, and the water was both clear, and calm.
"Now, how do we open this. Oh, looks like you have to say something for it to open?" I saw a little recording button that was placed onto there.
"Hmmm, what should I try first? Oh I know!!" I then pressed the button and it was ready to receive what I was going to say.
"(L/n)" didn't open.
"Umm, (Y/n)," didn't open.
"Red string?" Didn't open.
"Come on think (Y/n). No one would leave this without any clues, or something to help." I then looked around while holding the rock in the palm of my hands to then find myself staring at the lake. That was it, it was the lake!!
I jumped over joyed knowing that this would be the only logical explanation.
"It obviously has to be the lake's name. Think about it (Y/n), whoever made this lock also named the lake, and if they left it here, the body of water itself must have been the clue."
I then looked at the button feeling both excited and nervous. I pressed the button as my stomach clenched. I didn't feel prepared for it to open, but I then decided to put my foot down telling myself that I would do this no matter what!!
"Y-Yamoto."
"...."
"Did it work?"
*opens*
"The rock actually opened...IT OPENED!! OMG!!!"
I couldn't believe that I did it!! I was jumping up and down to the point I could hear my knees crack.
"Owww. I should probably open it now...right?...." I sighed and my hand moved a lot faster than expected.
I saw the string that laid there. It was a beautiful bright crimson red. For some reason, that hue of red reminded me of the colour of blood lust. We learned about it in history and even got to see the different colour palates regarding the subject. I was a little nervous seeing how the string looked like an exotic silk, something I could never afford.
I then decided to pick it up and tied it around my wrist just like the way the three did in that story. Before I could even say or do anything about the string, I dropped the box and felt my body leave the place in an instant.
☆Sorry if it was so long and hoped you enjoyed!! :)☆
