Fullest moon, darkest night,

The Lady looks down with silver light

Upon the sleeping world below

searching for where her gift will show.

Humans walking late at night

love the Lady's beautiful sight.

Strong and quick, brave and smart,

loved by many, pure of heart.

The Lady sees down below

where it is her gift will show.

Upon them her light does shine

Speaks to them with words of kind.

Offers them a special gift

what which will let them shift,

from their natrually given form

into a wolf they shall be born.

Tears of joy they happily wept

and with bursting hearts did accept.

Left behind what they had been

instead became the Lady's kin.

They then took in her wonderous sight

as newborn guardians of the night.

With long, sleek coats and golden eyes

they filled the night with their cries.

With flashing fangs and long, soft ears

they chased away all human fears.

Befriended by humans with love and care

they came to be known as the Were.

Were and humans lived in peace

until the day it came to cease.

Humans had fear grow in their minds

that of which were not their kind.

Towards the Were they all felt hate,

ashamed that they were not as great.

Against the Were they did turn

and then they soon began to burn.

Humans massacred, Weres soon fell,

the sight of fire, a sign of Hell.

The Were did flee in a state of fright,

eager to escape the humans' might.

The Were were gone, the humans glad

All the Were felt very sad.

It took a while for them to cope

but in the end they all found hope.

They hid away in lands of cold

until their lives were tales of old.

They came out slowly from the mist

into a world where they did not exist.

They kept their gifts hidden from men

and together formed a special clan.

Their cries filled the night with a sorrowful sound

but their secret was never found.

For years they lived side by side

with man but always had to hide.

To keep thier secret was very dire

alse the humans bring their fire.

They kept their secret and that is how

the Were still walk among us now.
