theo steadily set foot into the ancient temple with a missing ceiling and only three cracked walls. the ruins were decorated with humanoid statues which were now stripped from their artistic value from thousands of years ago.
theo was mesmerized by the beauty of this holy sanctuary, and he spinned around himself to admire the details all around him even if the building had lost its former glory.
he let out a sigh of relief and joy as he slid his left hand into his back pocket, his eyes still gleaming with joy when he rushed his right hand through his fluffy light brown hair and exclaimed "i found it.".
theo was only seventeen but he had admired greek gods, myths and such for as long as he could recall. this temple, which belonged to hades in particular, was one he had dreamt of finding for years. with years and years of research and quite a large amount of luck he managed to find the large mountain bridging over the temple, sheltering and hiding it from the outside world.
theo adjusted his round, silver glasses as he let himself fall onto the floor as he took in the beauty of the greek temple. "i found it" he murmurred again, not being able to comprehend his victory. after sitting down for a few more minutes he rose and started walking towards the largest statue at the center.
the statue belonged to the god of the dead and the underworld himself; hades. theo rested his gaze on hades' stone eyes looking down on him, judgingly.
the slender boy let himself fall to the gods feet, the tiredness of the hiking under the sun for hours finally taking it's toll. theo's eyes slowly fluttered shut, letting him fall deep into sleep.
—
theo jerked up, his white shirt drenched in sweat. he looked right towards the missing wall, only to see the sun setting slowly as it colored the sky in various shades of red, orange and pink. he let out a sigh, and slowly rested his back on the cold marble floor.
after coming back to his senses in a matter of minutes, he stood up to once again admire the temple. even after about a few hours of time to take it in, the building still managed to take theo's breath away. but this time something caught his eye. a rather large, unnatural crack beneath the statue of what theo beliveved to be persephone.
he quickly made his way to her statue and kneeled down to be at eye level with the large crack. "i apoligize, lady persephone" he grunted as he slammed his back agaisnt her statue and started pushing her to reveal the crack, no, hole in the wall.
once the statue was completely out of the way theo took out a lighter, grabbed his torch and slowly glimpsed into the hole in which he found a small spiral staircase.
before acting too quick, he found a small rock on the ground and threw it down to the center. judging by the sound, it wasn't too deep.
after turning three or four times, theo found himself in a dark empty room. he started to walk forward, shining his torch onto the walls in search of some form of decoration that could help him conclude what this room exactly was. but the walls seemed to be empty. as he continued walking around in hopes of finding some form of story he suddenly found himself falling into water.
his body crashed into the ice cold water, his glasses slipping off of his nose. theo tried to reach out to grab them but he realized that he could not move at all. theo's eyes widened with fear as he saw a decoration on the ceiling of the room, one which resembled an ancient ritual for the sinners once they died, or were to be executed.
the ceiling blurred as theo's glasses were now far gone. all he could do was painfully wait to drown. was this really how he was going to die? theo tried to move one last time but this time he only slipped into unconciousness.
