Scarlett's grip on the railing slowly loosen, she closed her eyes. She tried her best to hold on, but her fingers kept slipping. They were wet. Knowing her grip on the railing will not last long made her blood turn cools. She took a deep breath in trying to calm herself. When she opened her eyes and looked up at the person who was holding onto her over the bridge. Fear shot through here.

He was dressed in all black.  The only thing visible were his ice cold eyes. Her body went numb. The man from the park. The same man she found larking outside of her house. The same man that had been following her for months on school campus, malls parks.

Anywhere she went the man in black was not far behind. At first Scarlett never thought much about it until she began to notice him everywhere she went. He would silently follow her around keeping his distance, but tonight he was the reason she was about to fall to her death.

When Scarlett had gotten home from work, the apartment was quiet. Normally, her mother would be sitting in the lounge with a book, waiting for her arrival. The lights had been off indicating her mother had not been home for a while. She turned on the lights and headed to her room. Where could her mother be, she thought.

Scarlett's phone had died, and she forgot her charger at home. She plugged her phone in as soon as she got home. The black screen light up after a few minutes.

There were 4 miss calls from her mother and And 1 new message waiting  from a number she did not recognize.

Not knowing why her mother had called her 4 times in the last few hours. Scarlett thought it had something to do with dinner and where she was. She texted her mother she was home and clicked on the voice message.

A static sound was all she heard. She was about to end the call when she heard a familiar voice. " scarlett, Whatever you do, don't go home. Go anywhere, but home. I'll come find you."
It was her mother. She sounded out of breath and scared. The message ended abruptly. Scarete replayed the message. But each time she did, she was more confused. Why would her mother tell her not to come home.

Suddenly, she heard heavy footsteps coming towards her bedroom. Her mother's messages replayed in her mind. "Don't go home" Scarlett, slowly got up and faced the door. She grabbed her table lamp off her nightstand and stood waiting for the footsteps to get closer. As the sound of those heavy boots got closer a shadow grew on the wall.m and a face appeared in the doorway.

Her body went numb. And the lamp her hand dropped to the floor shattering the glass to pieces.  Her heart raced as the man in the black tench coat got closer.

As the man got closer, scarlller moved back. She was trapped. There was nowhere to go. She gulped and closed her eyes. When she reopened them the man was about one feet away from her. The man closed the gap between them. Leaving no space for her to Escape.

'Think quick think quick.' She told herself.the wheels in her brain started to turn just as the man in black reached for her neck , she ducked under his arms. And tried to make a run for it, toward her bedroom door.  But she was too late the man had tackled her to the ground. She heard the glass shatter in to more pieces as the to collide with the floor.

Scarlet let out a piercing scream but the man muffled it with his giant hand. Tears had blurred her vission as the man hovered over her. Her body began to shake and everything seemed fuzzy.

"Fight, Scarlett. Fight!" The voice inside her scared.

Grabbing the shattered glass that was around her she stabbed the man in the face, which lossened his grip on her. He let out a loud scream. Scarlett kicked him in the jaw, and pushed herself up with her shaky hands. And ran without looking back.
