Ava pov
8 months later, October

"Girl I know you ain't wearing that shit to class." My roommate, Jala said looking at my outfit as she brushed through her hair.

I was wearing joggers and a t-shirt along with a pair of Vans.

"Why I'm not?" I asked. "I was up all night writing that paper. They should be lucky I'm coming to class at all."

This was my third month in college and I was over it already.

It was mainly my fault, seeing as I'm the biggest procrastinator ever. I never did anything ahead of time, preferring to wait until a day or two before the deadline to turn in work.

In high school, this wasn't a problem. But that shit was starting to catch up with me.

Jala turned her nose up in disgust, "At least put on some jeans."

"Uh, no. Who I'm trying to impress anyway?"

"Keep on. One of these hoes gone snatch Meechie right from under you. Walking 'round here lookin' like a dike."

I laughed, "Damn, you're so mean. I don't feel like putting on clothes."

When I saw her in the apartment on move in day, I almost turned back around. She wasn't who I was expecting to be rooming with at all.

Jala is pictured below

She was loud and outspoken, demanding the attention of any room she was in.

I guess what they say about opposites attracting is true because we got along perfectly.

She reminded me of a female Demetrius, except she wasn't constantly trying to shoot somebody.

The girl literally said whatever was on her mind and if you got offended then oh well.

Putting my laptop in my bag, I sat on the couch and waited for her to be ready.

I decided to go to South Alabama, a college in my city, because my mom was so worried somebody would do something to me if I went out of state.

The irony.

We lived in Campus Quarters, which was off campus student apartments that were in walking distance of the school.

Demetrius wanted me to live with him but I told him I wanted to have the full college experience.

That was really pointless because I barely even go out and most nights he stays over.

"You ready?" Jala asked walking into the living room.

Nodding my head, I stood up and followed her out of the house. Most days we walked to campus together since we both had classes at eight o'clock.

"People gone think I'm gay and shit." She said as we walked towards the crosswalk.

"Shutup. I'm sure everybody on this campus knows how much you like men."
