Cold corridors, lights dim and dark. Red velvet carpets leading to the main room in the castle, where the lonely king sits to watch over his kingdom.
The king has tried to marry many but they all end up not taking the offer for betrothal, so the king has now given up on finding another royal to spend eternity with.
One sunny day, the king decides to go out to the garden. He walks through the path of flowers and bushes, until he abruptly stops at the pond. sitting down near the pond he begins to look into the rippling water and sees koi fish swimming around.
“Oh what a beautiful sight to see” says the king, a small smile creeping onto his features. The king isn’t ugly or mean per say but he does have a hard heart that’s difficult to see through and pleasant facial features to look at when he isn’t brooding or upset about something.
While the king is looking around more he decides to pick some of the delicate flowers, slowly tying them around each other's stem he has made a crown. Taking off his real crown and setting it aside, he puts the crown made of beautiful and fragrant flowers on his head.
A bunny comes out of one of the bushes and startles him, only for a quick moment though. Once he figures out it was only a small bunny he takes a breath of air and puffs out in relief “Thank goodness.” He stares at the bunny for a bit longer but then,
He hears a loud rumble. It came from the sky, he didn’t realize till now but it has gotten cloudy.
Quickly grabbing his crown and heading back to the castle so as to not get caught in the rain, he hears another rumble and this time it is louder with lightning following after. Unluckily for him he did get wet before actually making it inside the castle but that didn’t matter because once he made it inside, it was just as cold and dark as outside. The walls were slowly crumbling away and his throne was falling to pieces, lightning struck again and he saw himself already on the throne but this time it was only rotting skin and bones.
He dropped his crown in dismay, falling to his knees he looked down at the floor with sorrowful eyes. The crown that was on top of his head had crumbled down to the floor before his eyes, all disheveled with greying flowers, dying or already dead.
That is how he is now, just like those flowers, greying and dead.
Forever to watch over his fallen over kingdom,
For this was a story of a king.
