(A/N: Finally I'm back! Yes, no excuses I know but I'll fall into a normal routine now that 2015 is coming up. I have very high expectations of myself and really am planning on trying my hardest to write some great things and keep everything on time. Please enjoy the chapter and on a side note, *BlackStars theme (song) Never Loose Myself IS EPIC. OKAY? O-F*CKING-K.)

*Listen to BlackStars song during this if you want because that's what I was listening to when I wrote it aha.

Chapter 14

If We Fall, We Fall Together

=Maka's P.O.V=

The closer we got, the more anxious I became. My stomach was in knots and even as I tried desperately to focus myself, I couldn't think straight. Soul didn't seem to have any concerns that were that major, and even if he did he hadn't told me about them. He seemed so calm and collected. What would happen if I failed him as a Meister again? I had let him down so many times. Weapon or no weapon, it wasn't his job to be the one out of us that was always saving me from my carelessness.

A few small, rundown looking shacks came into view as Soul continued to drive into the heart of the village. Gritting my teeth, I studied the abandoned looking buildings. The wood was worn away and most of them were so broken that it wouldn't be possible for anyone to live in them. Small droplets of rain started to fall as Soul pulled up out the front of-what a sign hanging on one hinge claimed to be-a motel.

Sliding off of the bike, I led the way into the motel, cringing at the disgusting odour of the place. There were a few wooden table and chairs scattered around the place and one dying plant in the corner. The floorboards were scuffed, scraped and poorly hidden by the ugly, fraying rugs that had been tossed down to cover them up. A long bench lined the back of the place, a few bar stools tucked along it. A tapestry of what looked like a sun and a moon hung on the wall behind the counter. The colours had long ago faded from it, and there was a large tear down the centre of it. Forcing myself to be courageous, I made my way to the counter and tapped against the wood to gain the attention of a man standing with his back to me. He turned, a glass in one hand and a cloth in the other.

"What do you want?" He grunted, his top lip curling in an impolite way.

He looked dirty and unclean. He was missing one of his front teeth and his hair was cut extremely short. The water here was probably in very little supply, so it seemed rational to not waste it on washing hair anyways. From what I had researched, the only source of water this village had was a small stream at least an hours travel from here. Apart from that, the only information about this place that any books had to offer was that it was once highly populated and busy before some incident occurred.

"I'm Maka and this is my partner Soul. We were sent by the DWMA to try to contain and control whatever is happening here," I responded strongly, keeping my eye contact.

"Is that so?" He snarled, placing a glass on the bench. "Good old Lord Deaths clueless pawns huh?"

I saw Soul scowl out of the corner of my eye and hoped the situation would stay as peaceful as possible.

"All we need is a place to stay if you don't want to contribute any information," I told him calmly.

"Sure," He suddenly grinned, his eyes revealing that of a truly corrupt man. "But it's going to cost ya' a hell of a lot. We don't get tourists all that much out here."

"As I said were not tourists, we were sent-," I began to correct him before Soul cut me off by placing a handful of bills on the counter.

"He obviously couldn't care less who we are Maka so lets just give the greedy bastard his money and go asking somewhere else," Soul said as he shoved his hands into the pockets of his black jacket.
