i was late for my first day of work, running down the street, and i had just crashed into someone on the side of the road, spilling their coffee all over them.
"oh my god i'm so sorry i was late for work and then i ran and i didn't know you were ther-" he put a finger over my lip. "shhhhh, don't worry about it! it's just a coffee!" he said, putting the now empty coffee cup in the trash. "can i at least buy you a new coffee to make up for it?" i asked. "sure.", he said, "how does tonight sound?" "that's fine!" he gave me his number and off i went to work, later than i was before.

i was on my lunch break, and decided to text him. "i didn't even catch his name." i thought to myself, typing his number into my phone.

"wait did i... ask him on a date?" i thought, shifting in my seat. "no, i didn't..." i reassured myself, "we're just getting coffee as friends! that's all!"

i didn't think much of it and closed my phone. i put back in my pocket and continued my day at work.

"hahaha! i won!" "you bitch. HAHAHAH!" "sucks to suck, idiot."
me and my crush at the time, ella, were playing mario kart before my "date."
"so, you're going on a date tonight?" she asked me. "it's not a date, loser, i'm just buying him a coffee." i said. she stared back at me. "so, you're going on a date?" she repeated. "it's not a date!" i said, laughing. "okay, sure. i'm gonna bounce but have fun on your date." she said, walking towards the door. i hugged her before she left. "bye! see you tomorrow!" i said. "byeeee!" she said, closing the door.
i heard my phone vibrate from the other side of the room.

"what was that 'x'?" i thought to myself. "does he really think we're going on a date?"
i tried not to think about it, although it was taking up most of my brainpower. i got dressed, and started walking towards the coffee shop.
