Have you ever seen someone and think, "I want to have a past with him" as if it had started before it happens.
Tara is a simple bookkeeper. Her world started with no questions until a stranger enters her world and shows her who she was and what she...
"Oh, sorry", she looks down and touches her name tag and smiles at the customer, "It's miss, it's okay. Now, I'm sorry for now assisting you all this time, I do hope my teammates have at least help you some? I apologize I haven't since I am not to able to move around much," Tara tries to explain her troubled walking because of her past spinal trauma.
The handsome customer, Vince seemed to have an understanding and smiled, " Oh, that's alright. Thank you for your hospitality and yes.. someone did help me a few times. I am just happy... being in here surrounded by books, I haven't been able to leisurely read for a long time but now on this vacation, I can finally sit down and relax..." He kept his soften-look at the book-keeper.
"Oh, so you are on vacation? I would be anywhere if I could but sure, books can take you miles and galaxies away in our imaginations. I could see that. Well, where are you vacationing from?" Tara continues.
The gentleman starts off with a softer low voice," I am from Saharahville, you must have heard of it?" He examines Tara's shaking "no" head and continues to ask in more of a hurry, "How long have you worked here or how long have you been in town?"
Tara starts to hear cricket-chirps in her head. Okay! I guess this is a regular question but why does it feel a little... Oh, is this one of those secret-customers that Mrs. Hamington said she will send in to check on her for work. Okay, make more sense. Think fast!
"Oh, I have been managing this bookstore for almost a year but been here reading like you, a customer for few years but as for town, I been here as long as I can remember-"
"Impossible!" interrupts from the customer in surprise in a rougher tenor voice.
Tara became wide-eyes for a moment in confusion, "I'm... sorry?"
The man stares at Tara in confusion, he too in confusion, "You never heard of Saharahville!? And... you think you have always been in this town? Then, how did you get you back injury?..." He paused himself to take a deep breath and softens the rant he just had.
Okay, this is definitely not a secret customer that Mrs. Hamington sent... Tara thinks and freezes as she watches the man stepping closer and starts again,
"I... I am sorry. You just... No..." he seems to mumble something to himself in another tongue then returns, "you just remind me of someone I knew... I was so certain... but you... seem to-" he wrinkles his dark thick eyebrows and eyes as it glistens at Tara.
Tara can see her perfect reflection in those mirrored deep dark golden pair of eyes- petrified and like being hypnotized by one unfamiliar word, "era" but with a longer tone and full of meaning when it spills out of the strange and handsome man's thin lips. A quick swift of his grip on Tara's left hand and pulls toward the man. Tara feels a heat-veil cover her face and a light scent of white-sage entered her nose. His face was determined yet confused staring down at Tara's plain and slow reaction grimace.
"H'airah?" the soft voice came again matching the man's deep eyes.
"OH MY GOD!" a high female voice calls out and Siana erupts out for the end-cap of promo books and dashes toward the lounge circle. At this moment Tara snaps back to the presence of awkward scene and flinches her hand out of the stranger's warm and firm hand and stepped back almost tripping but stabilized but perfect timing of Siana supporting her. She keeps her vision on the offending stranger.
WHAT IN THE WORLD! HE'S NOT NORMAL!
The hands held in place with an empty small space where her hands had slipped away, "You... do not remember..." and a sorrowful sigh follows with his furrowing dark eyebrows.
Tara returns, "Excuse me, sir! You need to calm down. You must have mistaken me for someone. It's okay," she watches is truly sad face still staring at her.
Poor thing-
"Sir, please don't touch our manager and just calm down, sir!", Siana looks at Tara's left hand that was grabbed by the stranger earlier and quickly examines it to find it fine without any abnormality.
She continues whispering under her breath, "We are going to ask you to lea-"
"It is okay, I'm fine. He just mistook me for someone and seems quite upset, we will let him settle down first, but..." Tara interrupts then slowly gives the stranger an understanding look.
The strange man shaking his head lightly and staring at the carpet now in a lost world.
The two women held each other but keeping an eye on the man and Tara whispers to Siana, "I think we should go back, Go!" She nudges Siana monitoring the man more awkwardly and in disappointment. Soon the two left the area, hid behind the book shelve then supported Tara and skips faster to the back of the store.
Relief! Siana whines, "my white caramel mocha. He's definitely not coming back tomorrow."
Tara gives an annoyed exhale as she glances over the many shelves and tiny open spaces towards the lounge area. There the same soft blue sweater of that strange man's and starts to move and disappears to the far front then moments later the familiar ring comes.
"He left," now in full relief but something deep lingers inside her.
