6:45pm
In front of me lay my test sheet. Rather, 'catch-up' test according to my chemistry teacher. I had been dreading this day for two weeks, and here I am now, an hour of using my brain ahead of me.
"Remember, take the key words we used throughout our lessons and you're good to go!" Felix's voice echoed through my head. I peeked up at my teacher who was busy counting the amount of pins she kept in her drawer.
Damn, what a weirdo...I thought to myself before looking back down at my test sheet.
School had already ended, so the whole building was practically empty. While other students were most likely having the time of their lives, I was stuck here writing useless numbers on a useless piece of paper listening to the sound of the clock inching its way closer to me.
'Whatever you do, don't get distracted" his voice was suddenly back, snapping me back to my senses.
"Right..." I mumbled before jotting down a suddenly clear answer to one of the questions.
"10 minutes left." The teacher said. She had finished counting the pins and was now playing with her pen and making horrible ticking noises. I clenched my fists, trying my best to stay in place.
Don't hit an old lady, don't hit an old lady, don't hit an old lady.... I repeated constantly in my head in hopes of calming down.
"Thanks Felix, you life saver," I mumbled after writing down the last answer.
"Time's up." Mrs Kang said, placing her relatively old handbag on her desk. I got up and made my way up to her, handing her the piece of paper once I got to the desk.
"See you next week, miss." I waved while walking out, sighing in relief as I got out of the school building.
Buzz buzz
"So how did it go?" Felix asked from the other side of the phone.
"Oddly well, actually."
"That's good to hear" I could picture him smiling while hearing those words. Out of nowhere, a weird feeling arose from inside my body, totally catching me off guard.
What the hell...?
"Does that mean my tutoring career is over?" His tone seemed teasing, however my mind was quick to act without my consent.
"History!" I yelled out of nowhere, completely surprising myself in the process.
"What?"
"Um..." I froze in an instant, trying my best to find an excuse whilst internally arguing with my stupid independent mind.
"I suck at history, actually...mind tutoring me for that?" I asked hesitantly. I couldn't count how many slaps I was giving myself because of how embarrassed I was at that moment.
"Sure, I can help!" He seemed genuinely sincere, not even a bit uncomfortable.
Why is he so damn nice?
"I'll set a date and time as soon as I can! See ya!" With that he hung up.
Beep beep beep
As soon as I entered my apartment, I threw myself face first on the couch, trying my best to get that weird feel out of my body.
"I feel like I swallowed ten living butterflies..." I mumbled.
"Is this how it feels like to die?"
"Am I gonna die?"
"Hey kid, where's my cat?" Mrs Choi's voice echoed from behind the door. I looked up, confused.
"Open up, you cat burglar!" I groaned as I pushed myself off the comfy couch, dragging my feet to the door.
"So you are alive!" The old woman said as soon as I flung the door open.
"Mrs Choi, what a pleasure." I sighed.
"Where's Mr Whiskers?" I asked as innocently as I could.
"I'm the one who should be asking." She spat.
"I haven't seen him all day, you know, because of school,"
"Since when has he been missing?" I asked.
"Since this afternoon, it's already so late..." I sighed, looking back at my couch then back to my neighbor.
"I guess I can skip my nap to go search for him"
"That would be great, it'll pay off every time you kidnapped him."
"Kidnapping is a strong word, I was being affectionate after all—" just by her gaze i could tell she was impatient.
"Alright, let me just feed Patch before going."
"Thank you." With that, she walk off.
"I'll be out for awhile, this is to keep you alive, alright?" I said as I poured some milk next to the cat food. Patch purred as a response before diving into the food.

"Mr Whiskers!" I called out in the par right in front of my building.
"Where are ya?"
I walked around the empty park, looking from tree to tree to inside bushes.
"I've got some food here, want a bite?" I said all the while shaking the box of his favorite fish biscuits.
"I should be sleeping right now..." I mumbled, a bit pissed off.
"Mr Whiskers...please get out of your hiding spot..."
"Is this the cat you're looking for?" A voice asked, making me jump by surprise. I turned around to see a tall guy holding none other than Mr Whiskers himself. He wore a black hoodie and normal jeans.
I nodded in response.
"Yes, that's him! Where was he?" I asked as he handed over the fluffy beige cat.
"I was feeding the other stray cats in the streets and he came by. He actually flinched when he heard your voice calling out to him, so I figured he was yours.." He replied, patting the cats head.
"He's my neighbor's cat, actually...she asked me to go find him."
Silence filled the atmosphere I finally spoke up.
"I'm Chaeyoung, by the way."
He smiled softly.
"I'm Jaemin, I just moved here this week."
"Well it's nice to meet you, Jaemin." I smiled back. I suddenly remembered Mrs Choi and how she must be waiting outside my apartment, eager to see her cat return.
"I should go," I started. He nodded, patting the cat's head one last time.
"I'll see you around!" I said before rushing off to the apartment building.
I briefly turned to look back. He soon noticed and waved before walking off into the darkness.
"A new neighbor, I guess." I said, looking down at the cat, who's head was bumping in motion of my running.
"Wonder if I'll see him again.."
