I could hear the water droplets dripping down from the edge of the shed into the pools of water left behind by the rain. It was the first rain of the season. That sweet smell of mud wafting in the air, left a feeling of contentment in my heart. The empty walls of my room echoed with silence. I looked out of my window, such a beautiful day. I climbed onto the window-sill. I had nothing to do for a while, so I sat there relishing the emptiness around me.

I like being alone you know. Only if I could be left alone forever. Catching the water droplets falling from the grill I heard the sound of an engine. A little smile played on my lips. I could hear the footsteps, the got down from the window. Straining my ears to listen the walls here are thin. I heard footsteps, from the sound of them there were two people. The room next to mine opened. I sighed and went back to the window.

Sometimes all of it felt too much, my heart felt so heavy and eyes full of un-shed tears. I closed my eyes trying to numb my ears so I couldn’t hear the screams coming from the room next to mine. I tried concentrating on the sound of dripping water. Oh! How I wished for the rain to return, so as to drown all the sounds, so as to rid my heart of all the pain, so as to make my body heal again.  My room was the at the end of the hallway. I was that special one you see, the one for whom a little extra cash is paid.
