"Please don't go." I felt someone pull me away slightly from Lucy as she stepped away. I looked behind me to see Ma but it was Ellen that was holding me. Lucy stepped towards us and kissed my forehead gently before getting into her car and driving away. Ellen's grip around me didn't loosen, instead it tightened slightly and she leaned her chin on my shoulder as we watched the car disappear around the corner. "Can you take Lucas? I need to be alone." I felt her nod her head and I stepped away from her.
I ignored them all as I walked inside and upstairs to my room. I hopped into bed and just covered myself in blankets. I don't know why I'm feeling this way and why it's affecting me so much but I think it had to do with being off the anti depressants for a week now.
When the doorbell rang a while later it brought me out of my head and I removed the blankets from around me. I heard talking downstairs but it was very muffled. I got off the bed and walked to the door. I opened it quietly and stepped out to the landing and could see Ma standing at the front door speaking quietly to whoever is on the other side. "Keira, I really don't think now is the time. Georgia and Leah are on their way to you right this minute." I made my way downstairs and when Ma saw me she froze. I looked at Keira and Ma stepped out of the way. I stepped towards her and pulled her into a hug. I felt her let out a sigh of relief as she hugged me back.
"You're not alone K. You'll never be alone. This baby is family and we always look after family. Now, you've got some visitors coming to see you so can't have them wondering where you've gone." She smiled softly and nodded her head. I walked away from them towards the kitchen. I looked at my phone to see a text of an address from an unknown number but I knew who it was. I walked into the kitchen and Rachel smiled when she saw me. She walked over and kissed my cheek softly.
"I don't know about you but I think some alone time is well overdue." I chuckled softly and nodded my head in agreement. It was true. We hadn't had much time alone together without one interruption or another that I don't remember when the last time was. I leaned my head against my shoulder and sighed softly.
"Somewhere hot or somewhere remote?" She chuckled softly as hugged me close. She didn't even give herself a second to have a think about it before she replied.
"I know just the place but as long as I'm with you, I don't care where we go." I heard soft gags coming from behind us and I turned my head to see Ma, Ellen, Jill and KB all playfully rolling their eyes at how lovely our little moment was and they ruined it.
"Surprise me. Go book everything now so we don't regret it later." Rachel chuckled and nodded her head. She kissed my lips softly before walking out of the kitchen. I walked over to the others as they smiled sweetly at me. "Can one of you look after the kids for a few days?" Ma smiled softly and nodded her head. Ellen nodded her head as well and I thanked them both. Speaking of the kids, it's been unusually quiet in the house for some reason.
"Lucas took Amelia with him to go see Lucy at the field. I think you might to go for a check up on them to make sure they're all in one piece." I sighed softly and nodded my head. I walked over to the kitchen island and grabbed my phone and car keys. I smiled softly when Ma joined my side and we walked out to the car. We took the five minute drive to the field and I smiled softly when I saw them running around the place laughing. I saw that they weren't alone though and chuckled when I saw that they were running after Jordan.
I sat down at the edge of the field and watched them with a content smile seeing them all so happy and carefree. It's as though Keira didn't drop a major bombshell hours beforehand. Lucy was first to see me and for the first time in a very long while I saw her smile. I mean, I've seen her smile plenty but this was different. This smile wasn't forced, in fact I believe it's the most genuine smile I've seen on her in years. She jogged over to me and plopped down on the grass behind me. She wrapped her arms around me and held me close to her as if I was going to float away.
