[Max POV]

The screams of another victim were heard echoing through the house, I went outside so I wouldn't have to listen anymore and took a seat on the front steps resting my chin in my palms. I had the worst feeling in the pit of my stomach, I felt like I betrayed him, I did in fact, but I had no choice, I'm never given a choice, just my fathers orders. It hurts me inside to see that all these people are so innocent, just wanting someone to help them, save them...I always promise them that but only to let them be let down, it made me feel so cold hearted and sad.

"Max!" My dad called from inside.

"What?!"

"Where's your brother?!"

"He said he'll be back!"

"Where'd he go?!"

"I don't know!"

"Get in here!"

I sighed and rolled my eyes then got up and went inside. I walked into the kitchen to see my dad had already got the person into a body bag, I couldn't stand looking at him because shame filled my body every time.

"What?" I asked

"Help me move this." He said motioning to the bag.

"Can't you just wait for Billy to come back?"

"No." He walked over to the table and zipped the bag up. "Grab that end and I'll take this one."

I obeyed and took one end, I felt a shiver go down my spine feeling his cold hard legs and feet, or, foot, the other one was missing. My dad grabbed the other end and we lifted up the body, I walked backwards all the way to the basement doorway then went down the stairs one foot at a time, when we got down we went to the darkest corner and threw the body onto the pile of others, I wasn't sure how my there were but I wasn't planning on counting.

"Good job Max, you did well." My dad said, I looked down and shook my head. "What's the matter with you?"

"This isn't right..."

"Not this again."

"We are murdering innocent people for nothing!" I said going up the stairs with my dad following.

"It's not for nothing!"

"Well selling their organs still isn't right!"

"Max, we do this because it makes good money!"

"I don't want to do this anymore!"

"I don't care! As long as you're under my roof, you're gonna do your job!" I was about to speak again but the front door busted open. "Billy! Get your ass in here! Where in the hell have you been-" My father cut himself off when Billy entered the room with a unconscious girl thrown over his shoulder.

"I went and got ourselves a new one, she seems like she's got the guts." He said

"Good job boy. See Max, why can't you be more like your brother?" I rolled my eyes.

"She having one of her little tantrums again?"

"Yes, now come on, let's get her downstairs."

My father and Billy headed to the basement with me following. When we got downstairs Billy laid her down on the floor and my dad tied a rope around her ankle and wrapped chains around her wrists, I looked at the girl and examined her, she wore only a oversized dark blue plaid shirt and had short brown hair that covered her face so I wasn't really able to get a look at it. As the two men were finishing the started moving, she groaned and moved her head around then looked up, she saw my dad and brother tying her down and began screaming. She pushed them away and scooted up against the wall pulling at the chains. "She's all yours, Max." My father said, he patted my shoulder and went upstairs, Billy stood next to me grinning at the panicking girl. "Billy!" My father called, my brother looked at me then the girl then turned and walked up the basement stairs.

I sighed and knelt down in front of the girl, she continued pulling at the rope around her ankle but stopped and looked up at me, with big brown eyes, shining tears, she was actually really...pretty. As I looked at her face I noticed a trickle of blood running down the side of her head, I reached forward to check where the bleeding was coming from but the girl flinched back in fear. "Oh, I'm sorry. I guess I shouldn't go on touching you without permission. Umm, can I see your head." The girl didn't answer and just stared at me with tears in her eyes. "I just want to look-" I reached forward but this time she kicked me in the stomach, I fell backwards and landed on my back. "It's okay, I deserve that." I grunted.

After a moment of holding my stomach I got back up and sat crisscrossed in front of the girl who sat with her knees up and her back against the wall, she had an angry look on her face. "Okay, Uhh, how about we start this off properly. I'm Max, Max Hargrove." I held my hand out for her to shake but she just scanned me up and down. "It's okay, I don't really expect you to wanna shake my hand because, you know, all of this..." I waited for the girls response but she didn't say anything, she seems very different, most of the time other people would start of with a bunch of questions or say things like, "let me go" or "When I get out of these chains, I'm gonna run and call the police." Stuff stuff along the lines of that, but she hadn't said a word. "So you're probably wondering why you're here..." She continued to stare me up and down. It was probably best I didn't share what was going to happen to her. "Well, Uhh, I don't really know..." She was still staring. "...look, I don't want to hurt you, okay? I don't wanna do anything to you..." nothing. "You got a name?.." Not a word. What did I expect? "Not much of a talker are we?" God this is awkward. "Look, I'm really sorry this happened...I wish I could help you but I can't, this is out of my control..." Her face softened but she continued staring. "Can I see your head?" I asked, she didn't say anything, I slowly reached forward and touched her face, I looked up at the trail of blood and spotted a cut halfway buried in her hair. I took a rag out of my pocket and wiped away the blood, the girl didn't do anything and kept her gaze on me.

When I got the blood off I sat back down in front of her. "So...what's your name?" She still didn't speak. "Are just not a talker or..." She looked around the basement, it was mostly dark, there was only a bit of light that came from the open door at the top of the stairs, the light reached straight down the stairs all the way to the girl making me able to see her clearly. "Come on, I just wanna talk. You know...have a conversation." She still didn't say anything, I went to speak again but then there was another voice.

"Max!" My father called

"What?!"

"Times up!"

"Hold on!"

"We have things to do Max!"

"Fine, I'm coming!"

I looked back at the girl, she seemed slightly panicked. "I have to go." I to stood up and she began panicking. "I'm sorry, I'll come back tomorrow." She continued to panic with tears running down her cheeks that was soon followed by screams as I walked up the stairs. I looked back at her sadly and pursed my lips, I hated that she had to be left down here in the pitch black basement all alone, especially when it was freezing cold at night, but I had no choice. I turned and continued up the stairs and closed the door behind me, her screams were still heard from behind the door. I placed my forehead against the door and closed my eyes tightly and sighed.

"Well?" My father questioned as I entered the kitchen.

"She'll need more time, she won't speak."

"Well I know a way we can get her to speak." Billy said smirking devilishly.

"Don't even think about it." I said

"We'll only do it if we need to Billy." My dad said, I sighed in relief. "Now come on, we've got things to do."

1508 words, I think that's pretty good for the first chapter, what do you guys think? There will be more in the next chapters and things will be pretty dark, just a warning. Anyways stay safe out there my baby uglies. Yeetus 😎

Edit: I know a lot of this is weird and probably doesn't make sense, and trust me there's a lot of holes but I'm too lazy to rewrite it at the moment.
