---------------------------------------------------

I slept like hell last night every little sound had me waking up afraid it might be the enforcers coming to finish off what the rogue had started. That was the first time I had ever met an enforcer and I hope to god it was the last time as well. I was laid out on my sofa watching re-run of my favorite shows  as I had been most of the day because it hurt like hell to walk around. I had to call off from work because I knew there was no way I could stand on my leg for that.

When there came a knock at my apartment door I tensed up afraid of who it might be. I laid very still on the couch hoping not to make any noise. The knocking came a couple more times before it became a pounding, “I know you’re in there. I can hear your TV you idiot.” Sasha’s voice calls out from behind my door. I sigh with a relief and pull myself up off the couch and limp over to my door undoing the lock and opening it.

Her bright blue eyes scanned over me, “You look fine to me but just in case…” She hold up a plastic bag and shakes it in my face, “I brought you some goodies.” She pushes past me into my apartment without an invitation. “No please come on in…” I mumble under my breath as I close the door. She has made her way into the kitchen area and is unloading the bag. “You didn’t say what was wrong when you called out so I just grabbed a little of everything. Some soup, some tylenol, some ice cream and chocolate….” She says pointing to the different items. I come over and pick up a DVD she had also pulled out of the bag, “The notebook?” I question holding up. She quickly snatches it from my hand, “You know in case it was that time of the month.”

I smile at her as I turn away and limp back over to my couch tired of standing, “As usual you’ve gone and over done yourself. All I did was sprain my ankle tripping over the curb in front of my apartments last night.” I lie. She comes over to my couch bringing the tube of ice cream with her, “Well then I guess I won’t have to share any of this with you.” She plops down next to me and opens to tub of ice cream and using a spoon she’d swipe from my kitchen she shovels some into her mouth. I just watch her with raised eyebrows. She returns my look, “What?” her mouth full of ice cream, “It’s my time of the month. Sue me.”

We spend the next couple of hours watching cheesy sci-fi movies and commentating on them. It hard to admit but Sasha has become like family to over the past couple of years that we’ve known each other. She doesn’t ask me about my life before I met her and I don’t ask her about hers. I think maybe we both understood that some things just didn’t need to be shared.

“Oh god, If I don’t pee I’m going to explode.” I say as I pull myself up off the couch my leg had begun to feel a bit better which meant the healing process had begun. I limped toward my bathroom as fast as I could go. “Hurry up grandma the commercials are going to be over soon and you don’t want to miss if Señor dreamy saves the world from the killer bees.” I flip her off as I disappear into the bathroom. While I’m finishing up my business I heard the sound of someone knocking on my door, “Can you get that?” I yell out to Sasha.

I hear the sound of deep voices over the sound of the water faucet as I rinse my hands. I quickly wipe my hands on the hanging towel and exit the bathroom, “Sasha who was at the door?” I ask as I come around the corner. I pause in my step when I see two big men standing in my kitchen talking to Sasha. One of them looks my way his eyes leveling me with a sturdy gaze. Enforcers. My brain already knows this is a bad situation and Sasha has no idea what she’s brought into my apartment.
